Department:Utility Services Department Organizational Unit:County Water and Wastewater Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time CLOSE DATE: 09/04/2026 $2,435.26 to $2,678.79 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne Beach/South Beaches WWTP. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Performs skilled professional and technical work supervising the operations and routine maintenance of a regional wastewater treatment facility. Supervision is provided to the regional treatment facility staff. REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) PLUS five (5) years [10,400 hours] of documented hands-on experience working on-site in a wastewater treatment facility. An Associate's degree or a Bachelor's degree in a science-related field is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess a valid active Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class A Wastewater Plant Operator's license and maintain said license in an active status during the term of employment. Must successfully complete an OSHA-compliant forklift operator training course which meets the requirements of CFR 1910.178 and be able to operate a forklift. Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include respiratory protection. Must be able to work shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
