POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The Journeyman Electrician is a highly skilled professional responsible for undertaking electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. This role requires a deep knowledge of electrical codes, wiring systems, and safety practices. The Journeyman Electrician works independently or as part of a team to ensure electrical systems are installed and maintained to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.



  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, motors, generators, transformers, and associated equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections, testing, and repairs on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate test equipment, including multimeters, megohmmeters, power quality analyzers, and circuit tracers.
  • Install conduit, raceways, cable trays, wiring, panels, breakers, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and control systems.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, facility standards, and local building codes.
  • Support emergency service calls and respond to power outages, equipment failures, and electrical system malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work order documentation.
  • Coordinate electrical work with facility management, engineers, contractors, and other maintenance trades.
  • Identify opportunities for improving system reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety, and environmental procedures while performing assigned duties.



Working Conditions:



  • Work in commercial, industrial, and government facility environments.
  • May be required to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.


May require after-hours, weekend, or emergency response support


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Top Secret Clearance


* Journeyman Electrical License


* 3 years of experience

* Extensive knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and system operations.



  • Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts and scaffolding, and access confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to distinguish wire colors and operate electrical testing equipment safely.
