Position Summary

Manager Employee Development provides managerial leadership to assigned staff to develop and implement training strategies, plans and processes to support organizational goals. Plans and leads training activities that ensures the development and improvement of employee skills and organizational performance. Participates in process improvement practices, provides innovative and customized training solutions, and coordination with employees at multiple levels to meet the diverse training needs of CPS Energy. Manages compliance initiatives for internal and external organizations related to required training and leadership opportunities. Responsible for the development, performance, and practices of assigned staff.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop training calendars, programs and schedules to meet leadership development training needs through flexible training delivery options.
  • Oversee and manage all development, alignment, coordination, facilitation, delivery, assessment and documenting of training solutions.
  • Manages and develops team of 3-15 individuals that develop, align, coordinate, facilitate, deliver, assess and document training solutions for technical areas.
  • Prepares, monitors, and manages departmental training budget and headcount.
  • Develops and implements strategic training programs that align with business goals 1 to 2 years in the future.
  • Partner with other business units to develop and provide growth opportunities to employees.
  • Partner with recruiting and employee experience on NEO to include facilitation and reporting.
  • Identify, manage and develop relationships with external training and education institutes to partner with, for development and implementation of programs at multi levels within the organization.
  • Responsible for the development and coordination of needs-based leadership development curriculum specific to assigned business areas that is aligned to business strategy and objectives.
  • Function as a SME in leadership development, learning system/technologies, adult learning principles and instructional design standards.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects using effective project management skills to include Change Management, Process Improvement, Lean Process, Six Sigma, and Human Performance Improvement.
  • Utilizes needs assessment, instructional design and post-course evaluation processes to ensure training needs and training effectiveness.
  • Applies principles of learning and individual differences to develop new training programs or modify and enhance existing programs.
  • Ensures continuous improvement of training programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of training.
  • Confer with Business Unit personnel to identify training needs based on analysis of business plans and performance data.
  • Develops new training programs or modifies existing training programs to meet organizational objectives.
  • Ensures for the consistent application of best practices for the development of training manuals, multi-media visual aids, and other educational materials for online learning, websites, and print.
  • Evaluates instructor performance and implements individual and group professional and functional development plans for assigned staff.
  • Develops and implements change management plans related to BU/BA training and development initiatives or project related training requirements.
  • Ensures all training facilities, resources, and equipment is properly maintained/operated in a safe manner.
  • Manages relationship with External Coaches and ensures that their services are in line with the organization needs. Including contract management, to include acting as a liaison with employees to connect with external coaches.
  • Responsible for the administration and maintenance of all in house assessments (Strengths, DiSC, MBTI, etc) and the contracts.
  • Develop and monitoring of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Experience in training, instructional design, curriculum development, facilitation, evaluation of training effectiveness, and performance.
Exception oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, Multimedia authoring tools, electronic mail and scheduling.
Black Six Sigma, Lean or process improvement strategies.
Learning System/Technology experience.
Must have favorable driving record.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or related field from an accredited university.
Required Certifications
Working Environment
Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equip, phone, multi-functioning printer & calculator. Ability to travel to & from meetings, training sessions or other busi-related events.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
