Posting Summary
There are up to four postdoctoral positions available in Dr. Hao Zhu's lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute ( EOHSI)/Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Rutgers University. These positions are funded by research grants from the National Institutes of Health ( NIH). Dr. Zhu's research team focuses on modeling studies of small-molecule drugs, nanomaterials/nanoplastics, and other environmental compounds to assess their potential impacts on human health and the environment using machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and big data analytics. His lab is developing new modeling strategies that can integrate heterogeneous public data into model development. Another major research interest is the use of large language model ( LLM) techniques to generate highly curated pharmaceutical science and public health databases that can be used for modeling purposes. Information about Dr. Zhu's research and recent publications can be found on his lab website: www.zhulab.com
The candidates will focus on one or two of the following projects:

  1. Developing predictive toxicity models for assessing new environmental pollutants, nanoplastics, and environmental mixtures;
  2. Developing pharmacokinetic (PK) models for predicting new drug candidates;
  3. Curating and managing unstructured or semi-structured health reports, patient records, and other public clinic outcomes using advanced data analytic techniques.
  4. Developing web-based cheminformatics and biomedical informatics scientific software and toolboxes.

Rutgers University is one of the largest research universities and has outstanding resources and facilities to support state-of-the-art research. Both Dr. Zhu's home department and EOHSI are nationally and internationally recognized for their basic and clinical research in pharmacology, toxicology, and exposure science. Dr. Zhu's research team has access to outstanding computational facilities for modeling, data storage, and data sharing. Rutgers University provides an excellent career development and training environment for postdoctoral fellows.
