Engineering Technician - Electronics Testing

Position Summary:


The Engineering Technician provides technical support to product engineering teams, contributing to the successful development, testing and implementation of sensor development projects. The Engineering Technician supports the planning and execution of prototype builds of the electronic hardware and conducts engineering tests to verify the embedded software systems.



Position Requirements:



  1. Support efforts for new product development including building prototypes, component testing, and sensor validation, ensuring work meets established procedures and engineering specifications.
  2. Interpret and apply engineering drawings, schematics, and datasheets to plan and execute engineering test requests and validation activities.
  3. Conduct electronic and electrical testing of pressure, level, ultrasonic, speed, and position sensing products.
  4. Operate laboratory/test equipment (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, current probes, waveform generators, etc.) to acquire and verify measurements against specifications.
  5. Collect, analyze, and summarize test data; produce technical reports, charts, graphs, and validation summaries.
  6. Assist product engineers in debugging hardware, firmware interactions and sensor outputs as part of embedded software development.
  7. Conduct product teardowns and failure analysis on nonconforming prototypes and returned components.
  8. Perform electrical and environmental durability tests and other product validation tests.
  9. Develop and maintain test procedures, work instructions, and laboratory documentation.
  10. Coordinate testing priorities with product engineering to support development timelines and customer deliverables.
  11. When mandated, will need to be available to work overtime, be it daily extra hours or weekly with additional days added to the work week.
  12. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
  13. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  14. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.



Professional/Technical Experience, Skills and Education:



  1. Associate's Degree in electrical or electronics technology, required.
  2. Two (2)+ years of hands-on experience performing electronic/electrical testing, troubleshooting, and validation of sensors, controls, or electromechanical products. Required.
  3. Intermediate soldering skills including fine-pitch surface mount devices and hot air rework. Required.
  4. Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB documentation. Required.
  5. Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and data acquisition systems. Required.
  6. Automotive, heavy equipment, industrial controls, or sensor manufacturing experience. Preferred.
  7. Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical testing methods. Preferred.
  8. Experience with LabVIEW or programming languages. Preferred.
