Position Title: Utility
Wage: $20.00 per hour Shift: 2nd Hours: 2:00pm-10:30pm (Mon-Fri) QPS Employment Group has a great Utility position available at a company in St. Louis, MO. This is a 2nd shift position with the opportunity for hire. Utility Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Operate multiple types of fabrication equipment. - Operates tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts. - Places and secures work pieces in proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches. - Load, operate and manufacture a variety of parts using various manufacturing equipment to make custom parts according to customer orders and instructions written on Work Orders and blueprints. - Complete project work as needed involving the assembly of parts that require the use of hand tools, paint accessories and mechanical devices. - Complete work order paperwork. - Perform in-process inspection according to standard procedures. - Maintain count and perform packaging duties as required. - Participate in cross training activities to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the department. - Perform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication. - Maintain a clean and organized work area. - Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for use. - Make suggestions to improve production and order processing efficiency. - Assist with training other team members. - Follow safety rules and quality standards. Utility Requirements: - Perform work independently with minimal defects. - Communicate with supervisor on work order priority. - Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts. - Very good math skills. - Ability to understand drawing and blueprints. - Ability to use basic measuring instruments. - Excellent problem-solving skills. - Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. - Must be able to work overtime as needed. - A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is preferred. - Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
