Job Description

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO)

Location- Oklahoma City, OK

Hours- 8am-5pm, occasional evening and night shifts

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:



  • Report on time and prepared for each scheduled shift
  • Perform all assigned duties and processes, including tasks for which you are fully qualified and those within your demonstrated capabilities
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive attitude throughout the workday
  • Work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to a respectful, productive work environment
  • Perform microscopic examination of gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides for abnormal cellular changes.
  • Responsible for referring appropriate cases for hierarchical review.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains appropriate workload and quality assurance records. Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed.



Qualifications:

Required Knowledge:

  • Liquid-based morphology certification: ThinPrep, TIS Review Scope, Surepath, and Focal Point.
  • A Hologic Genius certification is highly desirable for this position, although not required.
  • Must be able to provide certificates upon request.

Required Experience:

  • Meet CLIA requirements (CFR.493.1483).
  • Meet state licensure requirements, if applicable.
  • Meet ASCP requirements for Cytotechnologist
  • Graduated from an accredited Cytology program

Special Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological science
  • Completion of a Cytology program
  • ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification
  • Must be willing to work extra days/weekends as dictated by business need.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time as there is minimal job rotation with this position.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
