Are you a highly skilled Business Intelligence Engineer with a passion for data transformation and a knack for building powerful, insightful reporting solutions? We are seeking a dynamic individual to play a pivotal role in our client's modernization efforts. You will be at the forefront of transitioning existing reporting solutions to cutting-edge data sources and platforms, directly influencing how the organization understands and acts upon its data. This role offers the chance to apply your advanced Power BI and SQL expertise to solve complex challenges, architect robust data models, and deliver high-quality, actionable intelligence that drives strategic outcomes.

What You'll Do:



  • Lead the transition of existing reporting solutions to updated data sources and platforms, ensuring seamless migration and enhanced functionality.
  • Apply your in-depth understanding of Power BI, DAX, and SSRS/Paginated reporting to evaluate and re-engineer complex reporting logic and data models.
  • Architect and develop sophisticated Power BI solutions, including data modeling, DAX measure creation, and intuitive report and dashboard design.
  • Drive the conversion and rebuilding of legacy SSRS reports into modern Power BI or Paginated Reports.
  • Update and optimize queries, validate data logic, and redesign datasets when transitioning reports to new data sources.
  • Utilize T-SQL extensively for validating data sources, rebuilding complex queries, and understanding the structure of legacy datasets.
  • Shape and transform data efficiently using Power Query (M) to ensure data quality and readiness for reporting.
  • Optimize dataset architecture, model relationships, and performance to handle large and complex datasets effectively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze existing reporting logic, accurately replicate it, and identify opportunities for improvement within Power BI or Paginated Reports.
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical approaches, requirements, and work sequencing to meet critical delivery timelines.


Must-Have Qualifications:



  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience developing Power BI solutions, including robust data modeling, intricate DAX measure creation, and compelling report/dashboard design.
  • Advanced experience in converting or rebuilding SSRS reports into Power BI or Paginated Reports.
  • Proven experience transitioning reports to new data sources, encompassing updating queries, validating logic, and redesigning datasets.
  • Expertise with T-SQL for validating data sources, rebuilding queries, and thoroughly understanding legacy SSRS datasets.
  • Proficiency in Power Query (M) for efficient data shaping and transformation.
  • Strong understanding of dataset architecture, model optimization, relationships, and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze existing reporting logic and accurately replicate or improve it in Power BI or Paginated Reports.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for documenting requirements, logic changes, and technical decisions.


Nice-to-Have Qualifications:



  • Advanced proficiency in DAX, including timeintelligence, advanced modeling patterns, and calculation optimization techniques.
  • Experience building enterprisegrade Power BI semantic models or reusable datasets.
  • Proficiency with Power BI Report Builder for paginated report development.
  • Familiarity with the migration of reporting solutions within large enterprise environments.
