The Department of Management and Marketing at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Marketing with a primary specialization in Product Marketing.
In alignment with Utah Tech University's polytechnic mission, this tenure track faculty member will expand and enhance applied, industry-engaged learning in how organizations develop, position, differentiate, launch, manage, and grow products and brands. The position will emphasize the integration of customer insight, innovation, technology, and real-world marketing practice to prepare students for contemporary careers in product marketing and related fields. The successful candidate will contribute to the Marketing program through teaching, research, student mentoring, and engagement with industry and the broader community.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong combination of academic scholarship and professional industry experience in product marketing or closely related areas, such as product strategy, new product development, go-to-market strategy, technology commercialization, innovation, product lifecycle management, positioning, differentiation, market adoption, and customer insight. Candidates should have an active research agenda that contributes to the academic literature in product marketing or a closely related field, as well as meaningful professional experience applying these concepts in organizational settings. Professional or research experience in brand strategy and/or brand management is valued as a complement to product marketing expertise.
The Utah Tech Marketing program offers a marketing BA/BS major with career-focused areas of study in Digital Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Hospitality and Services Marketing, and General Marketing, as well as a marketing minor and certificates. Responsibilities
-
- Teach and design 24 credit hours of lower- and/or upper-division courses per academic year across different delivery modalities. Courses could include Product Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Principles of Marketing, Entrepreneurial Marketing, and new upper-division electives related to product strategy, go-to-market execution, product positioning, technology marketing, innovation, or related areas.
- Advise undergraduate marketing students, mentor student projects, and contribute to experiential learning opportunities and industry-engaged activities.
- Provide institutional and campus service as defined by University Policy and the College of Business, including holding office hours, attending department and College of Business meetings and committee service in compliance with university policy.
- Maintain an active program of scholarly research and publication consistent with the expectations for tenure and promotion at Utah Tech University.

Qualifications

- PhD or DBA in Marketing from anAACSB-accredited institution required; candidates who are ABD will be considered if the degree will be completed by August 2027.
- Active research agenda with evidence of scholarly productivity in product marketing or a closely related area, such as product management, new product development, product lifecycle management, product or marketing strategy, go-to-market strategy, positioning and differentiation, technology commercialization, innovation, market adoption or diffusion, customer insight or co-creation, portfolio strategy, emerging marketing technologies, or related areas.
- Demonstrated professional industry experience in product marketing, product management, go-to-market strategy and/or execution, product strategy, technology commercialization, or a closely related area is required.
- Demonstrated ability to design innovative, applied curriculum and deliver engaging instruction. Finalists will be required to deliver a teaching demonstration.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Experience working with industry partners and incorporating experiential, project-based, or technology-enhanced learning into the classroom is preferred.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2027. Annual salary of $100,000-$106,000 depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
