STATUS: FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: MANAGER OF DONATIONS DEVELOPMENT

The Salvation Army (TSA) Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a no-fee program to assist men and women in their journey to seek assistance for substance abuse and complete our rehabilitation program. ABOUT THE POSITION AND IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are seeking a candidate that will join our team as a Donation Coordinator by identifying partnerships and programs to increase donations to support the ARC program. The right person for this position will be someone who is organized, detail-oriented, can develop relationships in the community and who loves to work in a fast-paced environment. The position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week and pays $25.00/hr. This position will primarily be located at our Phoenix ARC location but will cover the Phoenix area primarily.

JOB SUMMARY:

Support the growth and coordination of a robust, top-tier Gift-in-Kind Donation program designed to dramatically increase donations from Homeowners Associations (HOA) and Churches. Develop and maintain community partnerships that generate donation events in support of The Salvation Army Thrift Stores and Adult Rehabilitation Programs.

Increase durable goods donations through strategic outreach, consistent follow-up, and professional donor stewardship. Balance technology, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills to produce measurable results and consistent execution.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:



  • Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of The Salvation Army. Understand the strategic direction and purpose of the ARC Command and conform to stated business needs to procure donations of clothing and home goods for sale in The Salvation Army Thrift Stores and online, which provide the primary source of funding for ARC Programs.
  • Solicit and secure gifts-in-kind from HOA communities and Church partners to support ARC Programs.
  • Research, identify, and analyze prospective HOA communities and Churches to identify the highest-potential sources of donated goods.
  • Cold call, email, and personally visit the target organizations within ARC Command service areas to secure donation drive partnerships.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships to establish recurring donation events.
  • Conduct consistent follow-up through phone calls, emails, texting, mail, social media, and site visits to schedule, confirm, and steward donation opportunities and relationships.
  • Respond promptly to incoming donation inquiries - including those from DailyVest.
  • Coordinate closely with the appropriate Operation's teams regarding secured donation events, including communication by phone, Donation Drive Forms, Microsoft Teams, and other designated channels.
  • Provide participating communities and organizations with donation drive materials, including flyers and acceptable and unacceptable item guidelines developed by the Marketing and Graphics Design teams.
  • Confirm all donation drives with community partners and transportation teams before each event to support successful execution.
  • Develop and deliver presentations that educate target partners about The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program and the impact of donated goods in serving the local community.
  • Attend advisory board meetings, inter-agency meetings, industry events, conferences, and local civic networking opportunities as needed.
  • Send timely donor thank-you communications following completed donation drives and other significant gifts.
  • Document all outreach activities, phone calls, emails, donor communications, follow-up actions, and event details in the designated tracking systems.
  • Track donation activity, event participation, poundage collected, secured donations, completed events, and results to measure performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Network and collaborate with the Development Team and Retail Operations departments to share information, encourage new ideas, and improve donation results.
  • Travel locally and overnight as required.
  • Perform all other responsibilities and projects as assigned by the immediate supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Three to five years of experience in community relations, business development, nonprofit development, donor relations, marketing, customer service, donations procurement, or a related field. Experience should include administrative support, revenue generation, written communication, and relationship management with community organizations, property managers, real estate professionals, businesses, or individual donors.
  • Nonprofit development experience strongly preferred, with knowledge of donor engagement, stewardship, and relationship management; experience coordinating community events, donation programs, outreach campaigns, or partnerships preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as a team member, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional, personable approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, deadlines, outreach efforts, and event schedules while producing a high volume of accurate work in a timely manner.
  • Strong research, project management, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and donor engagement platforms or software; able to quickly learn new technology and tracking systems. Experience with CRM systems or donor management software preferred.
  • Ability to type 50-60 words per minute.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Bilingual oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Demonstrate high integrity and a commitment to promoting the mission of The Salvation Army, while maintaining professional judgment and confidentiality regarding donors, beneficiaries, families, employees, and coworkers.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and move heavy objects such as household and office furniture, packages, and other bulk items.
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight as required.
