Position Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and medication of industrial electronic/electrical components, parts, equipment, and systems. This position may also perform general maintenance duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Develop electrical/electronic parts lists and schematics for new manufacturing equipment.


  1. Develops and improves programmable logic control ladder logic for new and existing equipment.


  1. Develops and improves human-machine interface software for new and existing equipment.


  1. Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.


  1. Recommends changes in circuitry or electronic/electrical specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.


  1. Train and develop Electronic Maintenance employees to achieve higher levels.


  1. General maintenance activities which may involve installation, troubleshooting and repair of equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and steam.


  1. Must use frequent physical effort to perform job duties. At times work may require elevated physical capability


  1. Ability to work overtime as required, including extended shifts & weekends, to meet business needs.



DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.


  1. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.


  1. Maintain production schedules.


  1. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.


  1. Other duties may be assigned at a later time

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:





Education:



2-year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent



Experience:



Previous experience in manufacturing preferred



Preferred Skills/ Qualifications:



  1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills


  1. Sound decision making skills


  1. Good math, reading and writing skills


  1. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention



Skills/ Competencies:



1. Basic computer skills

2. Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks

3. Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail

4. Must be able to operate material handling equipment and hoist, if needed



Physical Requirements:



  1. Ability to operate material handling equipment


  1. Ability to work in hot temperatures during the summer


  1. Occasional crawling and / or climbing


  1. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor conditions


  1. Occasional assignments working at heights.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:



  • Report directly to Maintenance Manager

  • Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment



WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may be subject to:



  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment

  • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels

  • Exposure to nuisance fumes and dust



  1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing)


  1. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis


  1. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions


  1. Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.
