Title: Superintendent - Philadelphia

Department: Philadelphia Operations

Reports To: Project Executive

Job summary

The Superintendent is responsible to direct and supervise subcontractors to assure the requirements of the project are met with respect to safety, schedule, quality control, cost control, and customer satisfaction. Overall, the Senior Superintendent is expected to provide construction management and general contracting services that meets the highest level of quality.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Develop and Maintain on-site logistics plans and procedures for the field operations
  • Interface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors) as required, to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, scheduling and achieving schedules in support of overall project objectives.
  • Maintain close coordination with engineering, estimating, and Hunter Roberts project management team to assure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedule; communicate effectively with project management team to assist in accurate contract items lists and shop drawing schedules; attend weekly project team meetings to ensure open communication and swift issue resolution
  • Develop, Update and Maintain the Project Schedule as needed; including a master schedule, look ahead schedules and prepare daily construction reports
  • Establish and maintain document controls to assure work is aligned with latest design documentation and approved shop drawings
  • Develop and Maintain the Site Safety Plan; Assure continuous maintenance of the safety program and conduct weekly safety meetings, regular tool box talks and safety pre-task meetings as needed
  • Conduct weekly foreman and superintendent meetings; assure minutes are prepared and distributed accurately and timely
  • Assure required risk controls are properly established and maintained as per corporate operations policies and procedure manual
  • Serve as liaison with municipalities, communities and labor representatives
  • Train and Develop direct reports

Minimum requirements

Educational and experience requirements include: High School diploma and completion of Vocational School a plus, College degree preferred; at least twenty years experience/knowledge. Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, etc and their impact on project activities is vital.

Abilities required

Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including safety, mitigation & control methods, operational means & methods and technology. Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
