Job Description

The College of Nursing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis seeks a full-time, 12-month, Non-Tenure Track Assistant Teaching Professor position that would be our Nursing Laboratory and Simulation Coordinator to support nursing laboratory and simulation education, operations, accreditation readiness, service, and continuous quality improvement in alignment with the College's mission and strategic priorities. Teaching responsibilities are primarily focused on laboratory and simulation-based education rather than traditional didactic classroom instruction.

The Nursing Laboratory and Simulation Coordinator maintains an on-site presence in the Nursing Laboratory Resource Simulation Center and is responsible for the day-to-day readiness and operation of the skills laboratory and simulation environments. The Coordinator also provides direct instruction through simulation facilitation and laboratory teaching and ensures activities are conducted in accordance with the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher degree from an accredited institution

Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in Missouri or eligibility to obtain Missouri licensure prior to the start date

Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience

Demonstrated experience in nursing simulation facilitation, laboratory instruction, or simulation program coordination

Knowledge of INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice and evidence-based simulation pedagogy

Demonstrated commitment to accreditation standards and continuous quality improvement in simulation

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with diverse student populations

Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) credential, or active pursuit of certification with completion within five years of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) credential

Experience with simulation accreditation or endorsement processes (e.g., SSH Accreditation, NLN Simulation Leader Certification).

Doctoral preparation (DNS, DNP, or PhD) in nursing or a related field

Experience using high-fidelity simulation platforms such as CAE, Laerdal, or Gaumard

Experience using audiovisual debriefing systems such as CAE LearningSpace or B-Line Medical

Prior faculty experience in a nursing education setting

Familiarity with Next Generation NCLEX item types and clinical judgment frameworks

Experience supervising staff or student employees.
