Currently recruiting a Physician - Psychiatrist to provide mental health services at Andrews Medical Group, Joint Base Andrews in Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. Monday through Friday, 7: 30 a.M. To 4: 30 p.M., with a one-hour lunch, excluding federal holidays. This role supports mission-driven health care for eligible military and federal healthcare beneficiaries.
DUTIES OF THE PHYSICIAN - PSYCHIATRIST:
- Examines, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats psychiatric disorders.
- Prepares and reviews case histories and obtains and evaluates data through interview techniques.
- Diagnoses psychiatric disorders.
- Prescribes and evaluates effectiveness of a wide range of therapeutic measures.
- Recommends dispositions of psychiatric cases.
- Completes evaluations, consultations, and referrals appropriately. Requests consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
- Advice on problems related to mental health and prevention of mental disorders.
- Conducts safety assessments and safety planning interventions.
- Serves as medical and psychiatric consultants to clinical psychologists and clinical social workers.
- Advice on kind and quality of psychiatric supplies and equipment
- Coordinates psychiatric services with other medical activities
- Instructs interns and residents in psychiatric principles and procedures
- Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.
- Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
- Serves and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provides relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decision-making and process improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PHYSICIAN - PSYCHIATRIST:
- Degree: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or an equivalent degree.
- Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists
- Board Certification: Current board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine. This includes the capacity to maintain a valid DEA licensure permitting the prescription of relevant controlled substances in support of psychiatric practice.
- You must have been continuously employed in the practice of Psychiatry for at least 24 months within the last 36 months.
- Completion of a residency or fellowship in psychiatry acceptable to the Defense Health Agency (DHA).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen for access to U.S. Government networks.
- Must provide documentation of applicable occupational-health testing or physical examination, required immunizations and annual vaccinations, and tuberculosis screening.
- Must use N95 respiratory protection when required for patient care and complete respirator fit testing and training within 30 days after in-processing and annually thereafter.
- Must complete applicable government security inquiry, qualifying or credentialing documentation, staff orientation, HIPAA training, MHS GENESIS training, and other required agency training.
