The R&D Chemist position for the Light Industrial Maintenance Commercialization Team supports new product development and existing business for Light Industrial Maintenance coating products. This position is accountable for contributing to projects to support the business.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

10% Travel

Responsibilities include:

* Participate and lead key parts of New Product Development and Maintenance of current products for multiple end use customers
* Appropriate selection of raw materials, paint making and testing, data analysis and application of paint formulation/knowledge to product specifications and performance requirements as defined by the appropriate Marketing team
* Accurate documentation and presentation of lab results and technical information
* Frequent and direct interaction with Marketing, Manufacturing, and various support groups to ensure the successful commercialization and maintenance of products
* Develop more in depth technical and business knowledge regarding paint products
* Proactively manage and drive raw material substitute and consolidation projects
* Plan, schedule, execute work, analyze results and make recommendations based on those results
* Identify potential Continuous Improvement opportunities and drive necessary actions for implementation
* Other responsibilities, such as mentoring will be determined based on the experience of the selected individual

Minimum Requirements
* Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status)
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Must have a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics ("STEM") field
* Minimum of 1 year of chemical formulation experience
* Experience in scale-up procedures for manufacturability
* Experience developing products for architectural markets
* Paint industry knowledge and awareness

Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelors in Chemistry
* Minimum of 1 year of architectural paint or coatings formulation experience
* DFSS Green Belt Certified
* Ability to be able to differentiate among colors
