Adjunct Instructor - Lifespan Developmental Psychology

Compensation: $8,000 per quarter per course

Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois is seeking to fill a part-time lecturer position for graduate-level courses during the Winter 2026 quarter. Winter quarter runs from 11/09/2026 - 02/12/2027 with a two-week break at the end of December. Our HPSC-754 Lifespan Developmental Psychology course meets for 3.00 hours per week on campus (and an additional 1.50 asynchronous, online).

Brief course description is provided below:

• HPSC 754 Lifespan Developmental Psychology (4.5 QH) The course is a basic developmental course covering the entire lifespan from biological, social and cognitive perspectives. Special emphasis will be placed on the unique methodological features of developmental research and the application of developmental research in the clinical setting.

Part-time lecturer faculty have access to Departmental and University resources such as secretarial support, a university email account, and library access.

We seek an applicant with a doctoral degree in psychology who has past teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level. Individuals who have not yet attained a doctoral degree, but have a master's degree and extensive experience in the area may also be considered. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Teach classroom course

• Develop student assignments and exams

• Evaluate student performance on assignments and exams

• Serve as a resource for students

• Respond appropriately and in a timely manner to students

• Perform other related duties as needed

Conditions of Employment

• Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check.

Required Education & Experience

The ideal candidate with have both:

• PhD or PsyD in psychology or MS in Counseling

• Experience in course content area

• Expertise in the area of personality broadly

• Knowledge of effective teaching strategies

• Ability to stimulate student thought through classroom interaction

• Ability to fairly and accurately evaluate student performance

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• Effective interpersonal skills
