Risk & Insurance Analyst Senior Summary Under general direction, administers assigned property, casualty, nuclear, and other risk financing and insurance programs for Pinnacle West Capital Corporation and its subsidiaries. Evaluates exposures, analyzes risk treatment alternatives, supports insurance placement and renewal activities, and provides technical consultation to business units, joint venture participants, and other stakeholders. Uses data, digital tools, and sound risk management judgment to improve the accuracy, efficiency, transparency, and governance of insurance and claims processes. Develops clear analyses, reports, and recommendations that support informed decisions, protect organizational assets, maintain reliable records and controls, and strengthen operational resilience. Risk & Insurance Analyst Consultant Summary Under limited direction, serves as a risk and insurance subject-matter expert and trusted advisor for complex property, casualty, nuclear, and other risk financing and insurance programs for Pinnacle West Capital Corporation and its subsidiaries. Leads the evaluation of significant and emerging exposures, develops risk treatment strategies, and provides expert consultation to business leaders, joint venture participants, project teams, and other stakeholders. Leads or coordinates complex insurance placement, renewal, contractual risk transfer, loss prevention, claims, and risk financing activities, and develops well-supported recommendations for management consideration. Uses advanced analysis, market knowledge, digital tools, and sound risk management judgment to influence decisions, improve program effectiveness, and strengthen the accuracy, efficiency, transparency, governance, and financial control of insurance and claims processes. Leads cross-functional initiatives, resolves complex or unusual matters, and provides technical guidance to other risk and insurance professionals. Develops executive-level analyses and recommendations that protect organizational assets, support informed risk-taking, maintain reliable records and controls, and strengthen operational and financial resilience. Major Accountabilities
Insurance program administration and renewals: Administers assigned property, casualty, nuclear, and other insurance and risk financing programs. Supports renewal and placement activities by gathering, validating, analyzing, and presenting underwriting information. Reviews policies, endorsements, binders, invoices, exposure information, and related documentation for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with approved coverage decisions. Risk identification, consultation, and contractual risk transfer: Partners with business units, joint venture participants, and project teams to identify and evaluate insurable and non-insurable exposures. Provides technical guidance on coverage requirements, certificates of insurance, contractual risk transfer, retention alternatives, and other risk treatment options within assigned authority. Escalates complex, unusual, or high-risk matters as appropriate. Data management, analytics, and reporting:Maintains reliable insurance, exposure, claims, premium, and financial data in approved systems and records. Develops reports, dashboards, trend analyses, and summaries to improve visibility into program costs, exposures, claims activity, and risk trends. Digital process improvement:Identifies opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve insurance and claims processes using approved digital tools, workflow automation, data visualization, and responsible use of approved artificial intelligence capabilities. Considers business needs, data quality, controls, security, documentation, and long-term support requirements before recommending solutions. Budgeting and financial controls:Prepares, validates, allocates, and tracks insurance-related financial information, including premiums, claims costs, fees, budgets, and forecasts. Investigates discrepancies and maintains supporting documentation for approvals, financial controls, and audit readiness. Loss prevention and insurer recommendations:Coordinates and tracks loss control visits, engineering reviews, inspections, and recommendations required by insurance contracts or risk management programs. Monitors findings, ownership, responses, and completion status, and communicates material issues to management. Governance, compliance, and records: Maintains accurate, complete, and accessible program documentation in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, records retention, information security, financial control, and internal governance requirements. Supports audits, regulatory inquiries, and management reviews as assigned. Market knowledge and continuous improvement:Maintains current knowledge of insurance market conditions, emerging risks, regulatory developments, and risk management practices. In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.
