We are hiring a Year-Round Interior Design Intern to join our Global Design team! In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced designers on projects that support Steelcase spaces across North America and beyond. Rather than working on hypothetical assignments, you'll contribute to real projects from concept through execution while building your technical, creative, and professional skills.

You'll Support Meaningful Work By:
  • Developing interior design concepts that enhance customer experiences and support project goals.
  • Creating space plans, design studies, and specifications for furnishings, finishes, and materials.
  • Building digital models, visualizations, and presentation materials using industry-standard design tools.
  • Collaborating with interior designers and cross-functional partners to bring projects from concept through execution.
  • Supporting design documentation, material sourcing, prototype development, and project installations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field at an accredited institution.
  • Actively enrolled in a degree-seeking program throughout the duration of the internship.
  • Portfolio required for consideration.
  • Availability to work onsite part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer.
  • This position involves frequent local travel, and reliable transportation is strongly preferred.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The company will not offer sponsorships or work visas now or in the future for this role
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience with studio-based design coursework and design process development.
  • Experience using digital design tools such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, CET Designer, or Enscape.
  • Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to present design ideas and explain design decisions.
  • Strong organization and collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience showcasing design work through an academic, personal, or professional portfolio.
