Human Resources Benefit Specialist

Job Summary The Benefit Specialist provides benefits support in hiring, open enrollment and terminations. This person processes benefit paperwork and events on the HRIS system, completes ACA reporting & follow up, and coordinates disability. This professional serves as the point person for day-to-day benefits and administration activities.
What you will do
- Benefit support and main contact for benefit questions and issues. This role handles all benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable and courteous resolution.
- Conducts New Hire Benefit Orientation and verifies new hire enrollments. Maintains physician and employee benefit binders and communication.
- Conducts monthly reconciliation of all insurance benefit plans. Responsible for monthly insurance benefit reconciliation, Badger Care/Child Support/Medicare verifications, missing insurance premium notices and follow up. Oversees dependent status process and audits. Completes Benefit and HR compliance audits as assigned.
- Aids in annual Flex Forfeiture and rollover analysis. Assists with Open Enrollment preparation and rollout.
- Creates and distributes COBRA and termination paperwork for Physicians and employees. Administers and tracks COBRA with 3rd party administrator.
- Administers HRIS data entry, employee status change requests, carrier notifications, workflows and reporting. Completes monthly ACA Reporting and follow up.
- Coordinates and manages all leaves and FMLA. Manages short and long term disability benefits and leaves.
- Provides support to HR. Maintains employee files. Assists with HR mail and faxes.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in human resources, business or related field. Required
- Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business or related field. Preferred

- Knowledge of recruitment practices
- Proficiency in HRIS technologies
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, managers, and the public
- Skilled in problem-solving and decision-making to meet organizational objectives
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and use discretion in all employee matters
- Exceptional customer service, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and application processing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly confidential environment
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
