Job Description

The College of Arts & Science is seeking a Business Support Specialist II to provide business and financial support for the College's Dean's Office. This position will assist operational managers with routine processing, reconciliation, and reporting responsibilities that support the College's central administrative units, scholarship administration, and dean-managed Centers and Interdisciplinary Programs.

This role is part of the College's business and finance team and will help ensure work is completed accurately, consistently, and in accordance with University and College processes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete payroll reconciliation and identify items requiring review or correction
  • Prepare and distribute monthly budget reports for central administrative units
  • Reconcile assigned accounts and review transactions for accuracy
  • Complete reconciliation checklists and monitor accounts for errors or outstanding items
  • Assist with correcting entries, including payroll corrections
  • Provide business and financial support for dean-managed Centers and Interdisciplinary Programs
  • Support scholarship administration, including routine processing, tracking, and record maintenance
  • Assist with reimbursement requets, purchases, contracts, and other financial transactions
  • Maintain accurate financial and administrative records and supporting documentation
  • Research information, collect data, and prepare routine reports as assigned
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and College leadership regarding routine business processes and the status of transactions
Shift

Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with some flexibility for start and end times.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing business, financial, or administrative support
  • Experience working with payroll, account reconciliation, budget reporting, purchasing, or reimbursement processes
  • Experience working in a higher education or similarly complex organizational environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other electronic systems used to enter, organize, and report information
  • Ability to review detailed information and identify errors or inconsistencies
  • Ability to organize work, manage recurring deadlines, and follow established processes
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $17.40 - $23.85 per hour

Grade: GGS 007

This is an in-person role on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. Candidates must be residents of the State of Missouri or willing to relocate prior to the hire date.
