College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) Analytical Services

The University of Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station Chemical Laboratories (ESCL) is seeking candidates for a Chemist II to develop, standardize, and perform laboratory analysis in food, nutritional, and related chemistries involving complex scientific instruments and procedures, to include, HPLC, GLC, and Amino Acid Analyzers. Assist in the development of new analytical techniques.

Key Responsibilties:

• Performs routine tasks and laboratory analyses as assigned using existing official Methods of Anayses, existing procedures, techniques, etc.
• Provides routine operational maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment and instructs and/or assists users in the operation of technical equipment and analysis of data.
• Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, resourcing, etc., as necessary.
• Researches and/or analyzes information and uses standard practices to make informed judgments and recommendations.
• Share with an analytical team occasional cyclic weekend duties to check on instruments and short sample preparations.
• As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri.
  

Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Some weekends may be required.

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Excel are required.

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,976.00-$72,000.00 per year

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
