Position Summary
The UNM Children's Campus is seeking a creative, organized, and dependable student employee to support the administrative, educational programming, communications, and technology needs of our early childhood education program. The Student Program & Communications Assistant will work closely with Children's Campus leadership and administrative staff to support projects that strengthen program operations, family communication, staff resources, educational programming, and the overall presentation of the Children's Campus. This position is well suited for a student interested in early childhood education, education, communications, marketing, business administration, technology, or a related field. The position will provide hands-on experience in a professional early childhood education environment while developing skills in administration, project coordination, digital communication, basic technology support, marketing, document development, and organizational systems. The Student Program & Communications Assistant will work in a dynamic early childhood education environment and will interact with Children's Campus leadership, administrative staff, educators, University personnel, families, and students. Because the Children's Campus serves young children, the student employee is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, reliability, and awareness of the unique responsibilities associated with working in an early childhood setting. The position may involve working in both office and program areas. Duties may occasionally require movement throughout the Children's Campus, participation in meetings or events, and assistance with time-sensitive projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
-Strong organizational and time-management skills. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Attention to detail and accuracy. -Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. -Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. -Professionalism and discretion when working in a confidential early childhood environment. -Strong computer literacy and willingness to learn new technology. -Familiarity with Microsoft Office/365, Google Workspace, Canva, Adobe products, or similar tools is preferred. -Ability to create visually appealing and professional documents and digital materials. -Interest in learning about early childhood education and the operations of a high-quality early childhood program. -Ability to receive direction, ask appropriate questions, accept feedback, and adjust work based on supervisory guidance. -Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with children, families, students, faculty, staff, and community members.
