L2 Network Engineer - Hershey PA

Unisys Corporation
United States, Pennsylvania, Harrisburg
N 2nd St (Show on map)
Sep 18, 2026

What success looks like in this role:

We are looking for a hands-on L2 Network Support Engineer to support our client's network infrastructure across their Hershey, PA headquarters, nearby offices, and manufacturing plant locations. In this onsite role, you will be the go-to resource for day-to-day network support covering SD-WAN, LAN, Wireless Access Points, and Cisco/Arista switching environments. This is a support-focused role - you will troubleshoot and resolve network issues, assist in minor configurations, and ensure smooth connectivity across all sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide L2 network support for SD-WAN, LAN, Wireless APs, and Cisco/Arista switches across HQ, branch offices, and manufacturing plant sites.

* Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents escalated from L1/helpdesk - including connectivity drops, slow performance, VLAN misconfigurations, and AP issues.

* Monitor network health using available tools and respond promptly to alerts or outages affecting production or office environments.

* Perform basic configuration tasks on Cisco and Arista switches - VLANs, port settings, spanning tree, and trunk/access port adjustments.

* Support and maintain Wireless Access Points - managing connectivity, signal issues, AP reboots, and coordination with wireless controllers.

* Assist with SD-WAN edge device support - basic troubleshooting of WAN links, failover validation, and escalating complex issues to L3 or vendor support.

* Coordinate with ISPs for circuit issues, outage reporting, and ticket follow-ups.

* Conduct regular site visits to HQ, nearby offices, and plant locations to perform hands-on network checks and hardware replacements.

* Maintain accurate documentation of network issues, changes, and site-specific configurations.

* Support onboarding of new network hardware at plant/office expansions under L3 guidance.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

* 6 - 8 years of hands-on network support experience in a corporate or manufacturing environment.

* Working knowledge of SD-WAN concepts and basic troubleshooting (VeloCloud, Meraki, Viptela, or similar).

* Comfortable working with Cisco and/or Arista switches - VLANs, port configuration, STP basics.

* Experience supporting Wireless Access Points (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, or equivalent) - connectivity issues, controller checks, AP replacements.

* Understanding of LAN fundamentals - IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, and basic routing.

* Familiarity with ticketing systems and following ITSM/change management processes.

* Ability to read basic network diagrams and escalate appropriately to L3 engineers.

* Good communication skills - able to coordinate with site staff, plant operators, and remote IT teams.

* Willingness to travel to nearby offices and manufacturing plant sites as needed.

NICE TO HAVE

* Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent knowledge (preferred but not required).

* Prior experience working in a manufacturing or industrial network environment.

* Basic familiarity with network monitoring tools (PRTG, SolarWinds, Meraki Dashboard, or similar).

* Exposure to OT/IT network environments or plant floor networking is a plus.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

* Reliable and proactive - someone who follows through on open tickets and doesn't let issues linger.

* Comfortable in onsite, hands-on settings including manufacturing plant floors.

* A team player who communicates clearly and escalates when needed - no lone wolf troubleshooting.

* Adaptable to shifting priorities in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a fully onsite role based primarily at the client's Hershey, PA headquarters. Regular travel to nearby office locations and manufacturing plants is expected as part of the role. Candidates must be comfortable working in both office settings and light industrial/plant floor environments. Occasional off-hours availability may be needed during outages or planned maintenance windows.
