Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities
- Is responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Ensures that items are prepared for shipment and that deliveries are verified for compliance to quality standards and recorded into the appropriate system.
- Examines contents and compares with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments and assess completeness and conformance to standards and specifications.
- Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Determines shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates while also resolving complaints in order to eliminate delays.
- Contacts carriers to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Prepares documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Operates and drives the forklift to transport items on the shop floor while maintaining an accurate inventory of stock.
- Computes shipping amounts and packs, seals, and labels materials for shipping using devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meters.
- Ensures that all job-related inventories are delivered to appropriate parties in a timely manner in order to avoid any production delays or disruptions to customer service.
- Performs daily activities and prioritizes tasks based on written and oral directions.
- Completes process/facility training as assigned.
- Complies with all local, state and federal health and safety regulations and site health and safety requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and environments wherein there is exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, chemicals and mechanical and electrical hazards
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb and wear a respirator

Education
- High School diploma or GED

Certifications
- Fork lift certification preferred

Required Experience
- A minimum of 2 years specialized experience in metal fabrication industry
