SME IT Logistics Manager

We are seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) IT Logistics Manager to oversee and coordinate the delivery, receiving, staging, storage, and movement of IT infrastructure, telecommunications equipment, construction materials, and related assets supporting a large-scale federal modernization program.

This individual will serve as the central point of coordination between project teams, vendors, security personnel, facilities management, freight carriers, and government stakeholders to ensure materials are delivered securely, safely, and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting complex logistics operations within secure federal or defense environments while maintaining compliance with security, safety, and asset accountability requirements.

• Manage and maintain a consolidated delivery and receiving schedule across multiple projects, vendors, and installation efforts.
• Coordinate delivery activities to ensure alignment with facility access requirements, security protocols, storage capacity, and project schedules.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound shipments, vendor coordination, freight logistics, and material movement activities.
• Coordinate security-related delivery requirements, including driver access requests, vehicle approvals, cargo inspections, escorts, and facility access procedures.
• Ensure vendors comply with all documentation, scheduling, security, and site access requirements before shipment arrival.
• Plan and oversee safe material handling operations, including:
  • Forklift operations
  • Crane lifts
  • Rigging activities
  • Loading and unloading operations
  • Staging and transportation activities
• Review lift plans, rigging procedures, operator certifications, and safety requirements to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Manage temporary storage, staging areas, and laydown yards while maintaining asset accountability and chain-of-custody controls.
• Receive and inspect incoming equipment and materials against purchase orders, shipping manifests, and packing lists.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, shortages, damage claims, and delivery issues with vendors and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate logistics activities involving IT equipment, network infrastructure, electrical components, building materials, HVAC systems, and construction-related supplies.
• Collaborate with facilities teams, contractors, and construction personnel on delivery planning, road access requirements, utility impacts, permits, and site logistics.
• Maintain detailed receiving, inspection, inventory, and custody-transfer records supporting asset accountability and audit readiness.
• Develop and enforce logistics standard operating procedures (SOPs) covering safety, security, hazardous materials handling, operational security, and inventory management.
• Provide regular updates and briefings to leadership regarding delivery schedules, risks, constraints, and logistics performance metrics.
• Manage government-furnished and contractor-acquired property during receipt, storage, transportation, and installation activities using approved asset management systems.

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain additional access approvals as required.
• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain management, inventory control, receiving operations, warehouse management, or construction logistics.
• Minimum 5 years of experience coordinating deliveries and material movement within secure federal, government, defense, or highly regulated environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing vendor coordination, delivery scheduling, access control processes, and receiving operations.
• Strong knowledge of material handling operations, including forklifts, cranes, rigging, load planning, and warehouse operations.
• Experience managing complex delivery schedules supporting multiple concurrent projects.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, construction site logistics, warehouse operations, and material handling best practices.
• Experience with receiving inspections, discrepancy resolution, inventory control, and asset accountability.
• Professional certification such as:
  • Certified Professional Logistician (CPL)
  • Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
  • Equivalent logistics or supply chain certification
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate government or company vehicles, if required.
• Ability to work in warehouse, logistics, construction, and loading dock environments.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and support occasional after-hours or weekend delivery operations.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

• Experience supporting classified, mission-critical, or national security programs.
• Forklift operator certification.
• Rigging, signal person, or crane operation certifications.
• Hazardous materials handling training or certification.
• Experience coordinating high-security deliveries and controlled-access facility logistics.
• Familiarity with asset tracking, inventory management, and project collaboration platforms such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, or equivalent tools.
• Experience supporting large-scale IT infrastructure deployments, telecommunications programs, data center modernization, or facility construction initiatives.
• Prior military service or experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain operations, property management, or sustainment activities.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized logistics professional with expertise in secure facility deliveries, material handling operations, inventory accountability, and project coordination. They will be capable of balancing multiple priorities while ensuring materials arrive safely, securely, and on schedule. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively across vendors, project teams, facilities personnel, and security stakeholders are essential for success in this role.
