Position Summary

The Graphic Designer 3 communicates effectively through visual graphic design and creates interest, both internally and externally, through our current and future print, digital and online channels. This position plays a key role in brand standards, program awareness, event awareness, education, and customer acquisition strategies and plans for CPS Energy's products and services through all CPS Energy channels, both internal and external. This position will participate in developing print and online strategies and plans to enhance and strengthen the CPS Energy brand in the greater San Antonio area, regionally, and nationally. This position will be responsible for collaboration and coordination with team members, internal operations, product teams, other internal clients and partners, as well as external stakeholders, agencies, consultants, and community organizations to meet all goals related to graphic design related initiatives and projects. This position is extremely fast-paced and hands-on. The ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure is crucial. This position interfaces with various executives, partners, and clients about their creative graphic design needs.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Participate in developing marketing and communication strategies, plans, tactics, and execution for positioning, packaging, and communicating the value of CPS Energy's services, offers and ideas.
  • Support brand management and graphic messaging online and across current and future digital channels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal clients and customer base to ensure transparent communications while adhering to our company mission, values and safety culture.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications & Marketing team members and business unit leads about core strategic brand development projects. Assisting team members in large corporate initiative projects (i.e., campaigns, re-brands, promotional design).
  • Responsible for meeting with project stakeholders to identify needs and provide creative solutions.
  • Produce distinctive graphics through multiple forms of media.
  • Create company-wide visual assets and support departmental initiatives through artistic design.
  • Incorporate branded campaign elements throughout multiple executions including a variety of creative projects such as advertisements, brochures, corporate identity, packaging, presentations, promotional displays and signage.
  • Develop solutions for effective and appealing presentations, such as PowerPoint presentation layouts and supporting elements such as images, themes, fonts, colors, and visual effects.
  • Prepare and deliver graphics in formats such as flyers, posters, banners, brochures, wall/vehicle wraps, and formats suitable for viewing on company websites, internal intranet, social media, and electronic media (TV screen signage). Emergency design needs for events and executive messaging may require time outside of regular business hours on occasion.
  • Retouch and edit high resolution imagery.
  • Develop digital illustrations for logos, presentations and multimedia projects.
  • Produce data driven infographic designs through typography and illustration.
  • Responsible for the design, layout and formatting of digital and print materials.
  • Find graphical solutions while working through design challenges, effects and techniques.
  • Manage large file delivery and organize a workflow environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with digital and social media trends and developments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Must provide professional digital portfolio of graphic design and/or digital work that has been produced independently.
Possess a valid driver's license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPS Energy's policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
Demonstrate well-developed written and verbal communications skills.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work with minimal supervision as well as work effectively on teams.
Versed in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, electronic mail and scheduling.
Extensive experience utilizing the most updated Adobe Creative Suite applications; Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Bridge.
Extensive experience working in an Apple Operating System environment.
Extensive experience in print prepress and file management for various print sizes and print media.
Basic knowledge of functionality for social media platforms to include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
Basic understanding of website production, as it pertains to graphic design for desktop and mobile devices.
Ability to achieve results; multi-task, prioritize and work in a flexible, highly collaborative, employee-empowering work environment.
Ability to effectively manage time and complete projects and tasks within tight deadlines and on short notice.
Ability to work collaboratively within a design team environment and analyze creative feedback.
Ability to monitor and track project deliverables and report on progress of the projects to all stakeholders.
Ability to present reports defining project progress, obstacles, and solutions.
Ability to effectively communicate issues/obstacles and recommend strategies and tactics to implement change.
Ability to implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs and assess results.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, be collaborative, and have a strong client-service background and orientation.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional graphic design experience in a corporate, agency, in-house, or comparable professional environment.
  • Utility industry experience or foundational knowledge of the industry.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Teams for collaboration.
  • Experience creating animated videos and/or graphics.
  • Photography skills necessary to capture high resolution photos through DSLR or company iphone for use in graphic design projects.

Minimum Education
Technical Certificates and/or Associates degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design or related field from an accredited university OR relevant work experience can be substituted in lieu of degree. Extensive graphic design experience in a corp environment.
Required Certifications
Working Environment
Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, mobile communication devices, multi- functioning printer and calculator.
Outdoor work, ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking & standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
