THE POSITION

Join the Bethlehem Housing Authority as a Clerk Typist 2 and support important daily operations that help residents receive timely services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Bethlehem Housing Authority by providing key clerical assistance and helping maintain smooth office operations for the public housing program. It ensures that appointments, records, and communications are handled accurately and efficiently. As a Clerk Typist 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Appointment Support: Schedule re-exam appointments as well as process income change and rent composition requests
  • Record Updates: Enter interim calculations, re-examination entries, household additions and deletions, and process waivers
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and maintain items such as eviction notices, incident reports, repayment agreements, and tenant letters
  • Office Communication: Answer phones, monitor messages, check email, handle mail, and manage scanned digital files
  • Tenant Processing: Update case histories, print required documents, prepare applicant files, and manage reports and payment entries

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or
  • Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lehigh or Northampton County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lehigh or Northampton County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
