Assistant Teaching Professor: Ecology and the Environment (non-tenure-track)

The Department of Biology and the Environmental Studies Program at Tufts University seek a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) beginning September 1^st, 2027, with a primary appointment in Biology and a secondary appointment in Environmental Studies. The Assistant Teaching Professor's responsibilities will include a total teaching load equivalent to six courses per academic year (with reductions in teaching the first two years) advising undergraduate students, and shared departmental services. Courses taught will likely include an introductory biology course in ecology, physiology, and evolution, a course on global change biology, and additional offerings that may include research courses, environmental science methods, advanced seminars, or capstone experiences that match the candidate's expertise. Applicants from all areas of applied ecology, spanning biological scales from organisms to ecosystems and subfields such as conservation biology, invasion ecology, wildlife management, urban ecology, restoration ecology, and related fields, are invited to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates who are committed to experiential learning beyond the classroom. Teaching Professors at Tufts are not required to maintain any ongoing research.

Qualified candidates must hold a PhD in ecology or environmental science, broadly defined. Candidates should demonstrate successful undergraduate teaching. Experience in teaching large classes is required, and additional experience teaching field research/methods courses is preferred.
