This is not an assembly line welding role. You'll work on a wide variety of products and projects, including pressure vessels, tubing systems, and fabricated assemblies. The work is fast-paced, hands-on, and constantly changing, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys solving problems and producing quality work.

As a welder at Sentry Equipment, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality welds and assemblies that meet engineering specifications and applicable welding codes. Depending on your experience level, responsibilities may include:

• Performing MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on a variety of metals and material thicknesses.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, fabrication drawings, schematics, and welding symbols.
• Preparing weld joints, completing fit-ups, and performing finishing operations.
• Operating grinders, weld positioners, and semi-automated welding equipment.
• Working on pressure vessels, tubing systems, and welded assemblies.
• Maintaining a safe work environment by following safety procedures and using required PPE.
• Documenting work, maintaining tools, and keeping work areas organized.
• Operating cranes with proper certification and safely lifting materials up to 50 pounds.

As welders progress through the career ladder, opportunities expand to include advanced welding techniques, x-ray quality welds, specialized equipment, workflow coordination, mentoring, process development, and leadership responsibilities.

Our Welder I-V progression path is designed to help employees build skills and advance their careers.

• Learn welding fundamentals and assist with welding setups and procedures.
• Develop TIG and laser welding skills under supervision.
• Practice weld preparation, joint fit-ups, grinding, and blueprint interpretation.
• Perform simple welds on carbon steel and stainless-steel components.
• Complete joint preparation and standard welds within established tolerances.
• Utilize gauges, inspection tools, and welding test procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in TIG welding and laser welding.

• Independently weld pressure vessels and tubing systems.
• Perform hygienic welding and complete finish work to specification.
• Interpret complex drawings and perform advanced fit-ups.
• Develop skills in SMAW, MIG, orbital welding, and acetylene torch applications.

• Complete high-complexity welding projects involving multiple materials and joint configurations.
• Work proficiently with orbital and/or laser welding systems.
• Support workflow planning and lead small assembly projects.
• Train and support newer team members.

• Perform advanced welding work with minimal guidance.
• Lead layout planning and welding process development for new builds.
• Complete x-ray quality welds on a variety of exotic metals.
• Support welding certifications, procedures, and skill development of other welders.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read blueprints, use measuring devices, and follow work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP software.
• Knowledge of design, layout, mechanical principles, and product operation.
• Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and spatial awareness.
• Ability to bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of welding-related safety equipment.
• Positive attitude, ownership mentality, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

As you advance through the Welder I-V progression path, you'll continue developing expertise in:

• MIG, TIG, and Stick welding across multiple welding positions.
• Pressure vessel and hygienic welding applications.
• ASME U-code and x-ray quality welding.
• Orbital and laser welding systems.
• Tubing plate setup and fit-up.
• Blueprint interpretation and welding specifications.
• Selection and use of welding gases, filler materials, and settings for various metals.
• Safe operation of power tools, grinders, and measuring equipment.
