Job Summary The Project Lead - Structured Cabling serves as the on-site coordinator and supervisor for structured cabling installation projects, providing leadership to Crew Leads and field teams. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with Company and customer quality standards. The Project Lead works closely with the Project Manager to coordinate field activities, maintain productivity, resolve technical issues, and support successful project completion. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate structured cabling crews and Crew Leads on medium to large voice and data installation projects. Manage daily field activities, workload distribution, productivity, and overall crew performance. Provide hands-on leadership, technical guidance, training, and coaching to field personnel. Ensure compliance with Company and customer safety and quality requirements, including conducting required safety meetings. Partner with the Project Manager to monitor project progress, staffing, productivity, schedules, and budget performance. Identify and address performance or operational concerns and escalate issues to the Project Manager as appropriate. Complete required project documentation accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and related records. Perform quality inspections and ensure installations meet project specifications and established workmanship standards. Coordinate moves, adds, and changes (MACs), voice and data cross-connects, cut sheets, and related installation activities. Maintain red-lined drawings and as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Serve as a primary on-site point of contact for customer questions and project-related concerns. Participate in customer, facility, and construction meetings as required. Troubleshoot and resolve structured cabling and other technical installation issues as they arise. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Leadership Expectations The Project Lead is expected to demonstrate strong field leadership, technical knowledge, accountability, and attention to safety and quality. Successful individuals in this role are organized, solutions-oriented, and capable of effectively leading multiple crews while maintaining strong communication with customers and project leadership. Required Tools Basic Hand Tools: Standard and Phillips screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips with belt sheath, needle-nose and channel-lock pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves. Trade Tools: Punch-down tool with 110 and 66 block blades, 6/8-position combination crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX tools, butt set, volt-ohm meter, 4-pair continuity tester, and 5-gang punch tool. Min USD $32.00/Hr. Max USD $38.00/Hr. Qualifications Physical and Professional Requirements Self-motivated, professional, and able to contribute to project and process improvements. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to serve as a Company liaison with customers, vendors, and business partners. Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials or equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals. Ability to stand and walk throughout large job sites for extended periods. Ability to travel within the branch and/or regional territory as needed. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Education, Experience, and Skills High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electrical, telecommunications, infrastructure, or a related technical field. Minimum of six (6) months of supervisory or leadership experience. Ability to terminate fiber and properly use required hand and trade tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, reports, and quality documentation. Working knowledge of universal telecommunications color codes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project. Must meet Company driving requirements.
