Crew Lead - Structured Cabling Job Summary The Crew Lead - Structured Cabling serves as the on-site lead for voice and data installation projects, coordinating daily crew activities and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Company and customer quality standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate structured cabling crews on voice and data installation projects. Monitor crew performance, provide training and direction, and escalate performance concerns as needed. Ensure compliance with Company and customer safety and quality requirements, including required safety meetings. Partner with the Project Manager and Project Lead to maintain productivity, project schedules, and budget expectations. Complete required project documentation accurately and on time, including timesheets, work orders, material transfers, change orders, and tool transfers. Perform quality checks, coordinate moves and cross-connect activity, and maintain red-lined as-built drawings. Serve as the primary on-site contact for customer questions and participate in project or facility meetings as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to structured cabling installations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Technical Skills and Knowledge Working knowledge of data center infrastructure, structured cabling, equipment installation, and basic network connectivity. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, testing and certification tools, ticketing systems, and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms. Strong documentation, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a mission-critical environment. Leadership Expectations The Crew Lead is expected to provide hands-on leadership, coordinate daily work activities, maintain high standards for safety and quality, and support the team in resolving technical and operational issues. Successful individuals in this role are dependable, detail-oriented, technically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced data center environment. Required Tools Basic Hand Tools: Standard and Phillips screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, needle-nose and channel-lock pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves. Trade Tools: Punch-down tool with 110/66 blades, 6/8-position crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX tools, butt set, volt-ohm meter, 4-pair continuity tester, and 5-gang punch tool. Qualifications Physical and Professional Requirements Self-motivated, professional, and able to work effectively with customers and project teams. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work at heights, on ladders, in confined spaces, and across large job sites. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials or equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals. Ability to travel within the branch and/or regional territory as needed. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Education, Experience, and Skills High school diploma or GED required. 3+ years of experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, or a related technical field. 6+ months of supervisory or team leadership experience. Experience with fiber termination and universal telecommunications color codes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documentation. Proficiency with required hand and trade tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project. Must meet Company driving requirements.
