Find your calling at Mercy! Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports related injuries. Overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training. The incumbent will perform related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

This is a clinic-based athletic training role in a high-volume, procedure-focused sports medicine practice. You will work side by side with our primary care sports medicine physician as a core member of the clinic team. Keep the day
running smoothly and assist with procedures.

Our patients range from Southeast Missouri State Division I athletes to athletes at our contracted area high schools, and from weekend warriors to active adults.

This is a clinic-only position with no sideline or event coverage, so you
get sports medicine work with a predictable schedule. Position Details: Mercy Southeast Orthopedic Clinic - 650 S Mount Auburn Shift: Days, Full-Time (Mon-Fri) No event coverage, nights, or weekends

* Run clinic flow: Room and triage patients, take histories, and help with initial evaluations so the physician can

see patients efficiently. Keep a busy schedule moving on time.

*Assist with procedures: Set up and assist with ultrasound-guided injections, joint aspirations, and orthobiologic

procedures such as PRP. This includes sterile setup, patient positioning, blood processing, and post-procedure

instructions.

* Fit DME: Fit and educate patients on braces, walking boots, crutches, slings, and prefabricated splints. Casting is

handled separately, so this is not a cast tech role.

* Work with athletes: See SEMO and high school athletes in clinic and communicate with their team ATs as

needed.

* Support the clinic team: Work with nursing and front-desk staff on scheduling, follow-ups, and patient questions.

* Chart and prep orders: Complete med reconciliation, enter pended orders for physician sign-off, and handle

rooming and procedure documentation in Epic.

Preferred:

  • Clinic, physician-extender, or collegiate athletic training experience
  • Experience assisting with injections or sterile procedures
  • Epic experience

New grads who want to grow in a procedural sports medicine setting are encouraged to apply. Training is provided.

Education Required: Graduate of athletic training program from accredited college or university.

Education Preferred: Master's Degree in athletic training or related field is preferred.

Experience Required: N/A
Experience Preferred: Some experience Preferred, but not required.

Licensure Required: State of practice licensure or eligible for Athletic Trainer is required.

Certification/Registration Required: Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc. Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent.

Preferred Certification: National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: This individual must be trained and capable of performing patient care and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed.

Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Clinical and/or Outreach Athletic Training settings. The individual must be very adaptable and willing to work occasional odd hours. There will be occasional weekend work and travel required throughout the year.

Equipment Used: Therapeutic Modalities, Thermal and Electric Modalities, Computer, Dictaphone, Cellular Phone, Therapeutic Equipment.
