Animal Technologist II

The Center for Innovation in Brain Sciences is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Animal Technologist II to support a variety of rodent-based research projects. The ideal candidate will have experience handling rodents, possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain a commitment to high standards of animal welfare and research integrity. This position offers the opportunity to perform specialized animal procedures, behavioral testing, and data collection while working alongside investigators, laboratory staff, and professionals. • Perform a variety of advanced laboratory and behavioral research (including ear tagging, collecting of genotyping samples, blood collection, administering hormone treatment, conducting vaginal cytology procedures following established protocols.
• Provide routine and technical support for multiple research projects under limited supervision.
• Handle and restrain rodents safely and humanely while adhering to institutional and regulatory guidelines.
• Collect, compile, and maintain accurate research data and experimental records.
• Conduct behavioral testing and data collection (Y-Maze, Novel Object Recognition, gait analysis, tail skin temperature measurement, and other behavioral methods), to maintain and analyze comprehensive records of genetic information (housing conditions, clinical observations, and outcomes).
• Perform specialized rodent procedures ( various blood collection techniques, behavioral analyses, blood analyses, et al).
• Monitor animals and accurately document observations, results and any deviations from established protocols.
• Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures using Climb.
• Organize and maintain research files, laboratory records and study documentation and recommend new strategies to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and compliant manner.
• Contribute to operational improvements in animal care and data collection.
• Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures.
• Collaborate with investigators, laboratory personnel, and veterinary staff to ensure successful completion of research objectives.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Previous experience in laboratory animal science or biomedical research.
• Experience conducting rodent behavioral testing.
• Commitment to animal welfare and ethical research practices.
• AALAS certification (ALAT, LAT, or LATG) preferred.
