Being a respiratory therapist often means you're going to be called upon during some of the most critical situations. It's more than likely you may be seeing a patient during one of the worst days of their life. But understanding your role and approaching these situations, cool, calm and collected are of the utmost importance for achieving the best patient outcomes. To me. One of my favorite parts about being a member of this interdisciplinary team is the satisfaction of making a real difference during those moments. Getting the opportunity to assess your patient, discuss the plan of care with the medical team, offer up suggestions all while feeling like your voice is really being heard. Those are just some of the best parts about working here at Cooper. But that respect is earned and it's earned through hard work and dedicated patient care. But in the end, it's also worth it. Getting to see the impact of that hard work. Whether it be helping someone's grandmother who slipped and fell on ice is now in your trauma bay all the way to helping to deliver a newborn infant in the NICU. Every interaction we have with our patients is wholesome and meaningful. These are just a few reasons why I clock in, excited to every shift.
