ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN HR AND TECHNOLOGY

Job Summary

The
School of Labor and Employment Relations (LER) at the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor
position in HR and Technology within the Graduate Faculty. LER is a dynamic,
multidisciplinary unit with a faculty united by a shared commitment to
cutting-edge research on workforce issues. We construe HR and Technology
broadly, and welcome candidates whose research addresses important questions at
the intersection of technology, work, workers, and employment. Relevant areas
include, but are not limited to, AI and algorithmic management; AI-enabled HRM
and people analytics; the future of work and technological change; human-AI
interaction at work; digital work and employment relations; and the intersection
of HR, technology, and automation. We seek outstanding early-career scholars
approaching these issues from a range of theoretical and disciplinary
perspectives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducting and publishing high-quality research;
• Developing and teaching courses each semester in face-to-face or online
  formats, depending on the school's instructional needs;
• Mentoring and supervising PhD students, as appropriate; and
• Providing service to the School, the University, and the profession, as needed.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in a field related to HR, work, organizations, and technology (e.g., Human Resource Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Sociology, Labor Economics, or a closely related field), or expect to receive the PhD before the starting date of employment.

This is a 100% full-time academic
position, appointed on a 9-month basis. The expected start date is August 16, 2027.
Salary range of faculty members currently holding equivalent positions is
approximately between $150,000-$170,000 (plus summer support).

This position is eligible for sponsorship for work authorization, except for sponsorship of a new H1B petition that would incur the $100,000.00 fee. Alternative visa categories may also be considered.
