The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is currently welcoming applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Machine Design to start in Fall 2027.

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering houses undergraduate programs in Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering as well as a graduate program in Engineering and graduate certificates in Fluid Power and Additive Manufacturing.

In addition to teaching, successful candidates will be expected to become involved with academic advising, curriculum development, supervision of student projects, and continued professional growth through a combination of consulting, scholarship, and research.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Undergraduate Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • Relevant industry experience
  • A strong interest in effective undergraduate teaching while integrating theory with applications and developing laboratory experiences
  • Expertise in machine design, solid mechanics, and computational mechanics
  • Experience in areas such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAM), and design of electromechanical systems is preferred.
  • Research or industry experience in the aforementioned areas is preferred.
