These mission-proven power systems have supported successful deployments across LEO, GEO, and deep space missions, including the ISS, NASA's IXPE mission, and NASA's DART mission.
Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager at our Goleta, CA facility. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all procured supplier materials and internally produced products meet applicable program, contractual, and quality control requirements. You will also oversee the site's calibration program and provide guidance on general quality matters across the quality team and the broader Goleta organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for site-level receiving, in process, and final product quality control inspection, as well as the quality task administrator sub team.
  • Lead and guide significant projects and continuous improvement initiatives; implement process changes, solve complex operational issues, partner cross functionally, and drive departmental goals using data driven decision making.
  • Operate with a high level of independence while providing direction, coaching, and support to team members; act as a resource and mentor for others.
  • Lead skilled, independent contributors; establish team goals and operating guidelines with input from senior leadership; plan and prioritize departmental work to meet short term objectives; train and develop staff; resolve challenging problems; participate in hiring decisions and performance management; and support career growth and cross-functional alignment with engineering and project management.
  • Own Quality Management System processes related to receiving, in process, and final product inspection, calibration, and select general quality procedures.
  • Assign work, delegate responsibilities, set accountability expectations, and maintain metrics, reporting, and performance visibility for the team.
  • Drive both proactive and reactive improvements across receiving, in process, and final product inspection, calibration, and general quality processes based on performance data and trends.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot product and production issues related to receiving, in process, final inspection, calibration, and general quality functions.
  • Support processing of nonconforming materials through the established nonconformance workflow, ensuring timely documentation, disposition, and communication.
  • Support corrective action activities by reviewing supplier root cause analyses and corrective/preventive action plans; ensure adequacy, follow up, implementation, and effectiveness of actions.
  • Interface with program personnel to address receiving, in process, final inspection, calibration, and general quality topics.
  • Provide occasional support to other projects and programs as directed by the site Quality Assurance Manager.



Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a STEM field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in quality assurance and/or control - preferably in the aerospace or spacetechnology industry with a minimum of 2 years of supervisor/management experience; or 12+ years of equivalent relevant experience.
  • Deep, comprehensive knowledge of receiving, inprocess, and final product inspection, calibration systems, and general quality assurance disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Proficiency with common mechanical inspection tools, metrology practices, and calibration systems.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and apply GD&T principles.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with a datadriven approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across crossfunctional teams.
  • Proven leadership and peoplemanagement experience in a technical or qualityfocused environment.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in managing evolving priorities and challenges.
  • Proficiency with quality management software and related digital tools.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and/or testing facilities (up to 10%), including occasional outofstate travel.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person as defined by ITAR.



Desired Skills & Experience


  • Master's degree in a related technical or quality discipline.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar professional certification.
  • Experience with aerospace technologies, products, and manufacturing processes.
  • Background in solar panels/cells, composites, electrical harnesses, or machined components.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint, TIPQA, or similar ERP/QMS platforms.
  • AS9100 Certified Lead Auditor credential.

Pay Range

$133,000 - $162,000 USD / Year
How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
