Job Summary
The Human Services Supervisor is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who provides clinical, operational, and supervisory leadership for Human Services within the UCDH Home Care Services Department, with responsibility for Hospice, including Volunteer and Bereavement programs, Home-Based Palliative Care (HBPC), and Home Health. The position also supports Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) Navigators through collaboration and consultation.
The supervisor plans, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates Human Services activities; oversees staff assignments, workload, productivity, orientation, training, and performance; and provides clinical consultation and support for complex patient, family, and caregiver needs. The position promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, policy implementation, and program development.
The supervisor participates consultatively in interdisciplinary team meetings, Hospice IDG activities, family meetings, case conferences, and department initiatives. The position also maintains responsibility for professional LCSW practice and provides direct clinical services as needed, including psychosocial assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, resource coordination, advocacy, and end-of-life support.
The position works independently under the direction of the department manager, exercises sound clinical and organizational judgment, and maintains professional, clinical, and leadership competencies. - Valid California Board of Behavioral Sciences Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license without restrictions
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work
- Two (2) years of clinical/direct service experience within a home care or hospice setting.
- Supervisory or leadership experience to coach, mentor, teach, provide counseling to employees, and to implement appropriate corrective and disciplinary actions.
- Previous experience supervising program-level data collection as part of quality improvement or outcomes evaluation.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty social work certification from accredited organization such as the NASW, ACMA, etc.

- Skills, knowledge, and ability to support the policies and procedures of the UC Davis Health Department of Clinical Social Services and the UC Davis Health system.
- Knowledge of psychiatric service operations and ability to apply concepts in an acute care setting.
- Knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant psychiatric health services internal policies and external regulations.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills to guide behavioral health providers on treatment methods for serious mental health disorders.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and execute plans to meet deadlines.
- Organizational skills for coordinating staff schedules and unit operations.
- Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies.
- Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and EHR systems used in behavioral health clinics / clinical departments.
- Ability to ensure patient care service standards are consistently met; assists staff with managing challenging patient interactions with sensitivity and skill.
- Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Comprehensive knowledge of organization's patient record system to teach others.

Services are delivered through interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals, with a focus on compassionate, equitable, culturally responsive, and high-quality care.
