Location: 1160 Varnum St NE, Washington, DC

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, 1st Shift

Duration: 3 months


Job Summary

We are seeking a Phlebotomist I to support blood collection and related laboratory duties in a busy patient service center. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on phlebotomy experience and be comfortable performing blood draws on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations. This position requires strong attention to detail, patient-care skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Perform approximately 25 blood draws per day.



  • Perform blood draws on patients across different age groups, including pediatric and geriatric patients.



  • Perform venipuncture using appropriate phlebotomy techniques.



  • Interact professionally and courteously with patients throughout the specimen collection process.



  • Follow established procedures for patient identification and specimen collection.



  • Ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation.



  • Assist in performing various assigned phlebotomy and laboratory duties.



  • Assist with troubleshooting issues related to daily workflow and specimen collection.



  • Make workflow recommendations to improve efficiency.



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.



  • Follow established company and laboratory procedures and safety requirements.



  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team.



  • Assist with training as needed.




Requirements


  • High school diploma/GED required.



  • At least 2 years of hands-on blood-drawing experience preferred/targeted.



  • Strong venipuncture and phlebotomy skills.



  • Experience drawing blood from patients of all ages.



  • Strong patient service and communication skills.



  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.



  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.



  • Ability to troubleshoot and make workflow recommendations.



  • Ability to stand for most of the workday.



  • Must be eligible for rehire with previous employers.



  • Must be able to work the scheduled Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM shift.



  • Hepatitis B and RTB required, per intake.




Work Environment


  • Location: Patient Service Center (PSC)



  • Facility Size: Rather large



  • Daily Draw Volume: Approximately 25 draws per day



  • Patient Population: All ages, including pediatric and geriatric patients



  • Standing: Most of the day



  • Team Structure: Works as part of a team



  • Training: 2 weeks of training at the start of the assignment
