Position Summary The Corporate Engagement Volunteer Manager leads efforts to deepen donor engagement and strengthen corporate partnerships and volunteer programs through strategic communication and stewardship. This role develops and oversees a robust volunteer program across Southern California, aligning initiatives with The Salvation Army's mission. Collaborating with senior leadership, the Manager drives key efforts to support fundraising, enhance corporate participation, and expand community impact. Salary Rate $75k - $85k Essential Functions
- Strategic Volunteer Management:
- Develop and implement a volunteer program that aligns with divisional goals.
- Assess and support volunteer needs across Corps and programs by creating detailed job descriptions for short-term and ongoing projects.
- Establish a centralized process for volunteer recruitment, registration, background checks, placement, and evaluation.
- Corporate Engagement, Echelon & Partnerships:
- Collaborate with corporate partners to create meaningful volunteer opportunities that align with their corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals.
- Provide corporate partners with customized volunteer project support, including proposals, planning, and impact reporting.
- Work alongside the Marketing and Communication team to promote volunteer opportunities and events, ensuring visibility through outreach materials and digital platforms.
- Discuss any challenges related to volunteers with the LA Metro Coordinator and provide solutions to ensure a smooth experience.
- Establish, develop, and facilitate an LA Metro Echelon Chapter, engaging young professionals in volunteerism and philanthropy.
- Collaborate and partner with Orange County and San Diego regional office volunteer coordinators to ensure a cohesive volunteer strategy across regions.
- Volunteer Training & Support:
- Provide ongoing training and orientation programs to ensure volunteers are prepared for their roles.
- Serve as a resource to Corps and Programs, offering best practices for volunteer engagement and recruitment.
- Volunteer Recognition & Retention:
- Develop a recognition program to celebrate milestones and enhance volunteer retention.
- Implement feedback systems to regularly evaluate the volunteer experience and make improvements.
- Data Management & Reporting:
- Maintain an organized volunteer database to track engagement metrics, including contact information, volunteer hours, and project involvement.
- Generate quarterly reports to provide insights on volunteer engagement, impact, and key performance indicators.
- Event Coordination:
- Support major Salvation Army events, including Thanksgiving and Christmas programs such as Toy and Joy, food drives, and community dinners.
- Work with Corps and Programs to organize volunteers for high-impact events throughout the year as well as raise funds to support these efforts.
- Identify 1 to 2 Corps to take the lead in management.
- Collaboration & Leadership:
- Participate in and/or lead position-related meetings, providing input on strategic initiatives.
- Attend and participate in staff and committee meetings as requested.
- Represent The Salvation Army at appropriate public meetings with organizations, corporate representatives, and other community members as requested.
- Give presentations and facility tours to corporate executives, service clubs, and other key stakeholders to promote The Salvation Army's mission and programs.
- Collaborate with the Divisional Director of Corporate Engagement and other leadership to develop strategies for deeper volunteer and corporate involvement.
- Work closely with the Director of Corporate Engagement, Divisional Director of Development, and Divisional Director of Human Resources to ensure divisional volunteer needs are addressed.
- Finalize goal: As part of the manager's responsibilities, this position will be assessed on achieving an annual corporate giving financial goal.
Working Conditions

- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- The ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers, and reach overhead.
- Ability to operate telephone.
- Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
- Ability to understand written information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have supervisory ability.
- 3-5 years' experience in volunteer program development and coordination.
- Familiar with Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or other appropriate desktop applications.
- Must have the ability to work and relate well with people.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Must be able to type 45 wpm.
- Meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department as well as The Salvation Army.
- The ability to work in a team environment yet is self-directed.
- Must have a valid California Driver's License.
- Before hiring, submit a copy of DMV Driving Record with less than two (2) violations (moving or accident) in the last twelve months to be eligible for this position.
- Before hiring must pass Fleet Safety Test of The Salvation Army. Must pass test to be hired for this position.
- Certification by and participation in The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program on an annual basis.
- May not obtain more than two (2) violations (moving or accidents) in one year.
- Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy dictates that persons no longer meeting the qualifications of this position, if more than two (2) violations in a 12-month period accrue to their DMV Driving Record, employee will be required to attend traffic school at their expense or termination will be required.

- Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
