Integration and Test Engineer LOCATION: NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA JOB STATUS: Full-time CLEARANCE: Ability to pass a Federal Background Check CERTIFICATION: TRAVEL: As Needed SALARY: 150,000 - 175,000 Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Integration and Test (I&T) Engineer located at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. The I&T Engineer will support missions, projects, payloads, instruments, and technology demonstrators. The I&T Engineer will be responsible for the planning, documenting, creation, execution of the assembly, integration, and test campaign including Verification and Validation (V&V) in preparation for flight. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar engineering technical area, in lieu of a degree 7 years of experience in Integration and Test of aerospace systems
- At least 3 years of related experience with electromechanical systems, lab testing, or aerospace integration and test
- Detail knowledge and experience with Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) for spaceflight applications
- Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events
- Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Familiar with and able to present data and recommendations to a diverse audience of project managers, scientists, engineers, and technical staff
- Superb verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and independent thinker
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- NASA or industry spaceflight experience highly desired
- Knowledge and experience with instruments and payloads beneficial
- Experience with laboratory and facility requirements and safety needs a benefit
- Ideal candidate has demonstrated ability to assign work and manage personnel and tasks
- Exceptional customer relationship management highly desirable

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the overall assembly, integration, and test of projects, payloads, instruments, and technology demonstrators
- Serve as the central point of contact connecting mission systems, design engineers, software developers, and technicians
- Working with systems engineering and subsystem engineers (mechanical, thermal, C&DH, ADCS/GNC, communications, propulsion, software) to plan and implement the assembly, integration, and test for verification and validation
- Identify, procure, or facilitate fabrication of tooling and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) including Electrical, Mechanical, and Software
- Tailor the integration and test flow to mission and project specific needs and risk classification
- Create, review, implement, and approve AI&T procedures
- Ensure requirement verifications and validations are included in AI&T procedures
- Perform inspections, review, assembly, integration, test, and closeout tasks
- Identify, communicate, and deconflict tasks, deliverables, and schedule impacts
- Identify and disposition non-conformances, issues, and failures
- Troubleshoot hardware and software during assembly, integration, and test
- Build End Item Data Packages (EIDP) including as run inspections, integration, and test procedures, non-conformances, and rework
- Perform or facilitate laboratory and facility setup, maintenance, and upgrades
- Identify, complete, and track trainings for engineers, technicians, and staff
- Ensure tooling and equipment is calibrated prior to AI&T activities
- Create and adhere to lab safety plans meeting NASA requirements
- Facilitate the packaging and shipping of spaceflight hardware, software and support equipment
- Responsible for monthly, periodic, and milestone review products and reports
- Interface with Government, contractors, and mission partner staff
- Some travel may be required to support mission and project partners
