Job Summary
The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) at CU Boulder invites applications for The Program Manager - Scholarly Engagement and Post-Baccalaureate Success position! This is a part-time university staff position in the Student Academic Success Center (SASC) that supports a research-intensive learning program and assigned scholarly engagement initiatives. Reporting to the Program Director, this position serves on a three-member team that provides day-to-day oversight and operational support for the portfolio's programs and services.
The Program Manager serves as the primary day-to-day coordinator for the Puksta Scholars Program, with direction from the Program Director, supports scholarly engagement and post-baccalaureate success initiatives across SASC. Responsibilities include recruitment and onboarding; advising and coaching; workshops, activities, and events; communications, records management, and assessment support; and coordination of student participation in high-impact scholarly engagement and post-baccalaureate preparation experiences.
This position helps implement upper-division programming in scholarly activity and civic learning; faculty mentorship and undergraduate research; fellowship applications and graduate or professional school preparation; and other enrichment experiences. The position coordinates assigned program processes; maintains effective working relationships with educational opportunity programs, campus offices, research faculty, and community partners; and recommends improvements based on student needs, success outcomes, and operational efficiencies. Who We Are
The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) is an educational opportunity center in the Office of Undergraduate Education within Academic Affairs at the University of Colorado Boulder. For more than 60 years, SASC has supported student success through a mission-inspired learning community of students, faculty, and staff whose backgrounds and pathways are historically non-traditional in higher education.
Within SASC, the Scholarly Engagement and Post-Baccalaureate portfolio comprises the McNair Scholars Program which serves 25 students engaged in undergraduate research, and the Puksta Scholars Program which serves 16 students engaged in community-based projects. Together, these two research-focused programs and expanded upper-division services contribute to the pre-college to post-baccalaureate pathway in SASC by advancing scholarly engagement, civic learning, and preparation for post-baccalaureate opportunities for our students.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Program and Portfolio Operations
- Facilitates day-to-day operations for the Puksta Scholars Program and assigned portfolio initiatives across the academic year service cycle.
- Responsible for recruitment and outreach; application and selection; onboarding and orientation; and year-round engagement and retention of Puksta Scholars.
- Leads the Puksta Scholars Program plan of operations in collaboration with the Program Director, including advising support, enrichments, and student success initiatives.
- Coordinates program calendars, events, retreats, meetings, and workshops that support scholarly engagement, civic learning, academic achievement, and post-baccalaureate preparation.
- Serves as the primary operational contact for Puksta Scholars and coordinates routine communication, follow-up, referrals, and resolution of program questions.
- Supports new upper-division scholarly engagement initiatives by supporting logistics, materials, events, and other assigned components.
Student Engagement and Enrichment
- Provides high-contact student support that strengthens students' academic, scholarly, civic, and post-baccalaureate development.
- Provides individualized advising, coaching, and developmental support to Puksta Scholars and students participating in assigned scholarly engagement initiatives.
- Helps students develop and monitor academic, scholarly, civic, leadership, research, and post-baccalaureate goals.
- Connects students with faculty mentors and research opportunities; scholarships and fellowships; graduate or professional preparation resources; career development, academic support, and other campus resources.
- Facilitates educational experiences and community-building activities that strengthen scholarly engagement, civic learning, belonging, leadership development, and post-baccalaureate preparation.
- Monitors student engagement, identifies barriers to persistence or participation, and coordinates with the Program Director appropriate interventions and referrals.
Assessment and Improvement
- Manages records, data collection, documentation, and reporting processes that support assessment, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintains accurate student records, participation data, advising documentation, program files, calendars, handbooks, forms, resource materials, curricular or co-curricular materials, and assessment data in accordance with university or sponsor policies and program requirements.
- Facilitates collection of participation, engagement, satisfaction, academic progress, and outcome data for program and assigned scholarly engagement initiatives.
- Supports the Program Director with the assessment cycle, including data collection, organization, and preliminary analysis to inform program review and improvement.
- Identifies operational trends and student needs and shares recommendations with The Program Director to improve program processes, services, and student experiences.
- Supports preparation of internal reports, program summaries, assessment materials, sponsor updates, and other documentation required for planning and evaluation.
Communications and Partnerships
- Coordinates communications, outreach, and working relationships that promote participation and expand student access to scholarly and post-baccalaureate opportunities.
- Develops routine communications with Puksta Scholars and other participants in assigned scholarly engagement initiatives through appropriate digital, print, presentation, and outreach channels.
- Coordinates recruitment and outreach communications, including clear, accessible, and student-centered materials for programs, events, research opportunities, fellowships, and graduate preparation activities.
- Maintains assigned communication resources, including web content, calendars, newsletters, resource guides, and related materials.
- Assists the Program Director with maintaining working relationships with department-based faculty, research and graduate education partners, scholarship and fellowship programs, career services, libraries, and other campus and community partners to support student referrals, programming, and access to opportunities.
- Works with campus partners, in consultation with the Program Director, to connect students with research projects, scholarly events, post-baccalaureate preparation, and related opportunities; supports program and assigned portfolio initiatives at relevant campus events, meetings, orientations, and professional development activities.
Resource and Team Support
- Provides administrative, fiscal, and team support for effective, compliant, and student-centered program delivery.
- Coordinates routine administrative and fiscal processes related to events, purchasing, travel, stipends, scholarships, and program activities.
- Tracks expenditures, student-support resources, and program deliverables to support budget monitoring, reconciliation, and planning.
- Supports scheduling, onboarding, and communication with graduate assistants, student employees, peer mentors, volunteers, faculty mentors, instructors, and other personnel or volunteers as assigned.
- Provides logistical support for team meetings, trainings, retreats, professional development activities, and program planning.
- Maintains confidentiality and follows university, sponsor, and program requirements when handling student, financial, program, and institutional information.
What You Should Know
This part-time role will work 20 hours per week and follow a hybrid work schedule with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.

What We Require
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in any field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of student-centered experience such as advising, tutoring, or work study supervision at a 2-year or 4- year higher education institution. A minimum of one (1) year of administrative experience with duties in budgeting, record keeping, and event planning.
What You Will Need
- Knowledge of TRiO legislation and regulations; or knowledge of Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) policies and standards; or immediate capacity to learn.
- Practical experience working with TRiO-eligible students and/or life experience as a TRiO- eligible student. Skills in data management and social media marketing.
- Professional knowledge of standard processes in post-baccalaureate or "alt-ac" preparation for special populations.
- Experience in facilitating multi-modality workshops and services for on-campus and on-line participants.
- Abilities in creating and sustaining networks, affiliations, and partnerships with campus units, student groups, and community partners

A master's degree in any field. TRiO or other educational opportunity program alumni status or one or more years of higher education teaching experience may be substituted for up to 1 year of the 2-year minimum years of experience
