What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a critical member of the startup and operations team, responsible for the safe and systematic transition of complex infrastructure and process systems from mechanical completion through full operational readiness. This role is designed for a highly experienced process operations professional, one who understands industrial systems not just from an engineering perspective, but the principles of how a systems can and/or should be operated, started up, and handed over. The successful candidate brings a disciplined, safety-first approach to startup execution, a thorough understanding of process behavior during early operations, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams through the challenges inherent in bringing new facilities online.
What You'll Do
- Support execution of commissioning and startup activities for process systems, utilities, instrumentation, and facility infrastructure from mechanical completion and pre-commissioning through performance testing and operations handover, ensuring all commissioning and startup activities are executed in compliance with safety standards, LOTO procedures, process safety requirements, and site policies
- Support Facility operations team in the setup of new or modified facilities with training, management of change, HAZOPS, PSSR and creation of necessary operating procedures
- Provide training and mentorship to operations and maintenance personnel on newly commissioned systems, normal and abnormal operating procedures, and lessons learned from startup
- Apply deep process operations knowledge to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment and system deficiencies, and process performance gaps during startup and initial operation
- Work with facility operations team to optimize system performance
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in process operations with exposure in commissioning and startup in industrial settings such as petrochemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor industries or similar process-intensive industrial environments
- Excellent communication and documentation skills including proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, process flow diagrams (PFDs), single-line diagrams, and technical specifications; ability to use these documents to guide field verification and startup activities
- Proficent understanding of process control ideology such that the candidate can identify and solve issues with instrumentation, control loops, interlocks, process feedback loops, and safety systems to lead functional testing, and resolve abnormal behavior
- Deep working knowledge of process systems including piping, instrumentation, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, electrical distribution, and associated utilities from an operator's perspective
