Position Summary

The Senior Compliance Engineer is responsible for leading and maintaining the organization's quality and regulatory compliance programs in accordance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and IATF16949 requirements. This position provides technical leadership in quality management systems, internal and external audits, corrective and preventive actions, risk management, process compliance, and continuous improvement.

The Senior Compliance Engineer works cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure products and processes meet customer, regulatory, contractual, and quality-system requirements. The role serves as a key subject-matter expert for AS9100, ISO 9001, and IATF16949 compliance and supports the organization in maintaining audit readiness and a culture of continual improvement.

Responsibilities

* Maintain, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and IATF16949 requirements.
* Lead and participate in internal, customer, supplier, and third-party quality audits.
* Plan, coordinate, and support responses to audit findings, nonconformances, observations, and opportunities for improvement.
* Manage corrective and preventive action processes, including root-cause analysis, containment, corrective action, effectiveness verification, and closure.
* Monitor compliance with applicable customer specifications, contractual requirements, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
* Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and other controlled documentation.
* Conduct process and compliance assessments to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
* Support risk-management activities, including process risk assessments and evaluation of quality-system impacts.
* Provide guidance and training to personnel regarding AS9100, ISO 9001, IATF16949, and quality-system requirements, and compliance expectations.
* Analyze quality metrics and trends to identify systemic issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support supplier quality and supplier compliance activities, including supplier audits and corrective actions when required.
* Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure changes to products, processes, equipment, and documentation are properly evaluated and controlled.
* Maintain audit readiness and ensure objective evidence is available to demonstrate conformity to applicable requirements.
* Serve as a primary technical resource for interpreting and applying AS9100, ISO 9001, and IATF16949 requirements throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline is required.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience working in a related quality engineer position required.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident.
  • Significant experience working within AS9100, ISO 9001, and IATF16949 Quality Management Systems in the aerospace, defense, and automotive industries.
  • Strong understanding of auditing principles, corrective action methodologies, root-cause analysis, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Data analysis competency using statistical tools (e.g., Minitab or equivalent) and KPI dashboards; strong attention to detail and documentation rigor.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications; familiarity with GD&T preferred.
  • Experience conducting or leading internal audits and supporting third-party/customer audits.
  • Strong knowledge of quality-system documentation and configuration/document control practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret quality standards and translate requirements into practical processes and controls.
  • Experience with quality management software, ERP systems, and data-analysis tools is desirable
  • ASQ certification such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), ASQ Lead Auditor Certification/Training, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus.

  • Pay Range: $102305 to $170240 annually
