The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition.
The Membership department, part of the broader Advancement team at the Museum, works to provide vital, renewable, and unrestricted contributions which support the Museum's world-class exhibitions, scientific research, and educational programming. The Membership department is seeking a full-time Member Relations Associate to provide customer service to Museum members, donors, and potential members via phone, in person, email, and/or fax. They maintain a strong knowledge of the Museum's collections, exhibitions, policies, and membership offerings and process fulfillment of ticketing requests and member benefits. The Associate also maintains and updates accurate membership records via data entry, including membership status, assists in welcoming members onsite, works at donor events as needed, and provides administrative support for the Member Relations team as well as other duties as assigned.
This position is expected to include regular weekend work hours.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Support customer service efforts and respond to daily phone calls, voicemails, and emails from current, lapsed, and prospective members by addressing inquiries about member benefits, tickets, and general Museum information. Update member and donor records in Raiser's Edge and Tessitura. Train new staff in Tessitura ticketing and procedures. Support Visitor Services staff with member ticketing and member benefit questions. Perform monthly online membership testing.
- Provide administrative support for the Member Relations team including, but not limited to, handling mailings to upper level members and annual fund donors. Execute data entry accurately in accordance with Museum policies and procedures. Help with processing Donor Drive and Annual Fund transactions and contact donors as necessary. Update constituent records in Raiser's Edge and document interactions with constituents.
- Work closely with the Member Relations team to ensure a meaningful experience for members and VIP visits. Maintain daily upkeep of the lounge inventory, resources, and amenities. Assist with in-person upper-level member visits and special tours.
- Assist at member and donor events as needed. Work with the Membership Manager and Coordinator on special projects as assigned.
The expected salary range for the Member Relations Associate is $45,000/annual - $50,000/annual. The

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience. |
| Minimum Qualifications |
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with database management or the ability to leverage computer skills in support of relevant database management processes.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, arts administration, hospitality, liberal artsor another related field.
- Three years related professional experience in administration, customer service, ticketing, membership support, events, or another related field.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge.
- Experience with Tessitura.
- Professional experience at a nonprofit.
- Experience presenting to small groups.
- Interest in the natural sciences.
