Job purpose To coordinate activities of other operators to achieve, daily, weekly, monthly, and annual target outputs. Able to lead production shifts by filling roles from operator to Group Leader (during absences)

Job Duties

  • Lead and direct production team members to achieve safety, quality, volume, and yield goals.
  • Perform all Coating Operator duties while supporting daily production operations.
  • Analyze production issues and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Train and mentor operators on equipment, processes, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Generate and maintain accurate production reports through handwritten and computerized data entry.
  • Conduct quality inspections, create Initial Process Inspection records, and address non-conforming products.
  • Monitor the flow of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods throughout production.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Assist with end-of-shift reporting, data collection, and assume Group Leader responsibilities when needed.
  • Ensure all safety procedures, paperwork, and production documentation are completed accurately and on time.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use production software.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages, multiplication, and division.


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of high-performing machine operator experience or previous manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a production environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent attendance, reliability, and accountability.
  • Experience with quality control processes, continuous improvement, 5S, and Kaizen principles preferred.


Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Steel-toed shoes required.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong visual acuity to inspect products, identify small defects, and verify quality standards.
  • Ability to stand, walk, monitor equipment, and multitask throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working in a team-oriented, high-production environment.
