What You'll Do
- Follows prescribed procedures and operates or maintains the facility's heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems, with assistance from a Maintenance Mechanic III as needed.
- Conducts building and equipment rounds; checks equipment temperatures and condition, performs repairs as needed, and notifies department management when outside contractor service is required.
- Checks for building safety and maintenance issues, including inoperative exit lights and open ceiling tiles, and takes appropriate action.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems, equipment, and grounds.
- Installs and repairs doors, frames, hinges, windows, locks, panic bars, flooring, and other building components.
- Maintains and repairs lighting, public-address infrastructure, elevators, fire alarm and fire suppression systems, and other building mechanical components.
- Performs electrical and plumbing work, including repairs to systems and fixtures addressed by Maintenance Mechanic I.
- Performs minor carpentry, masonry, plaster, painting, and touch-up work on interior and exterior surfaces.
- Performs minor lock and key work.
- Cleans and maintains grounds, waters plants, and performs landscaping as directed by department management.
- Moves, disassembles, and assembles furniture and equipment as assigned.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and wears required personal protective equipment.
- Follows lockout/tagout directions and uses fire prevention equipment and other safety precautions as needed.
- Follows safety and security procedures to help protect residents, staff, and visitors.
- Completes assigned work orders efficiently and on time and records work in the required paperwork and daily log.
What You'll Bring
* Required:
- At least a high school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 2 years of related maintenance experience is required.
- Experience with mechanical breakdowns, repairing faucets and toilets, and working with minor electrical equipment (including resetting breakers) is required.
* Preferred:
- Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Carpentry skills are preferred.
