Position Summary
Under the direction of the Dean of Student Life, the Residence Life Coordinator serves as the primary professional staff member responsible for on-campus housing and oversees all aspects of the residential experience (community development, housing operations, student staff supervision, conduct, crisis response) for the University's residence halls. This live-in position calls for a versatile, mission-driven practitioner who can move fluidly between leadership of the student residential staff and daily operations management, cultivating community for up to approximately 300-400 residential students rooted in our values-based approach to the Catholic Franciscan tradition.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide daily operations management of the University's residence life and housing program, ensuring alignment with institutional mission, policies, and strategic priorities.
* Oversee housing operations, including applications, assignments, occupancy, room changes, openings/closings, inspections, and break housing.
* Manage the residence life budget, records, housing software, and reporting in consultation with the Dean of Student Life.
* Coordinate with Facilities, Safety and Security, Dining Services, Admissions, and other departments on residential operations, including summer conferences and camps.
* Foster safe, welcoming, and engaged residential communities that promote student learning, belonging, personal development, and retention.
* Maintain a visible and accessible presence, building meaningful relationships with residential students.
* Develop residential programming and community standards that reflect the University's Catholic and Franciscan mission while welcoming students of all faith backgrounds.
* Address routine residential conduct matters through educational and restorative approaches; refer serious cases to the Dean of Student Life and recommend policy improvements as appropriate.
* Participate in the weekly professional staff crisis response rotation, coordinating with Campus Safety & Security, Crisis Management, and student staff.
* Respond to emergencies with appropriate judgment, documentation, and follow-up.
* Identify and refer students of concern to appropriate campus resources; participate in the University's CARE team and collaborate with Athletics as needed.
* Participate in University committees and support major campus events, including Pre-Orientation, Orientation/Welcome Weekend, Homecoming, and Commencements.
* Collaborate across Mission & Student Affairs to advance student success, retention, and mission integration.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant experience.
  • Two to four years of progressive experience in residence life or housing, with demonstrated capacity for independent leadership of a program or functional area.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision, housing operations, conflict resolution, and crisis response.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, budgetary, and communication skills; ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
  • Willingness to enthusiastically support the Catholic Franciscan mission of the University and to foster an environment welcoming to students of all backgrounds.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience serving as the lead or sole professional for a residential program or hall.
  • Familiarity with residential curriculum models and assessment of student learning.
  • Experience with housing management systems and occupancy reporting.

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule

  • Approximately 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday), primarily days, with evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities (essential functions of the role).

  • Live-in requirement: This is a required live-in position. A furnished on-campus apartment and campus parking are provided in addition to salary.

  • On-call requirement: Participation in the crisis phone duty rotation is an essential function of the position. When serving on duty, the Coordinator must adhere to departmental policy which includes remain within a 15-minute drive of campus and be able to respond in person to emergencies.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities are essential functions of the role.

Physical Requirements of Position
  • Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
