Overview:

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. As a result of our continued growth, we are looking for an Electrical Assembly Trainer to join our team and train entry-level Academy students in the fundamental skills required for electrical assembly and manufacturing. This is a hands-on training position responsible for developing employees through a combination of classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, and shop-floor training. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical or electrical assembly background and the ability to effectively teach employees with little to no previous electrical experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Train entry-level Academy students on the fundamentals of electrical assembly, wiring, and safe work practices.
  • Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in basic electrical concepts, electrical safety, basic math, tape measure reading, and blueprint/schematic reading.
  • Demonstrate proper use of hand tools, power tools, electrical tools, and testing equipment.
  • Train employees on basic wire installation, routing, connections, and terminations.
  • Teach trainees how to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Demonstrate proper electrical assembly techniques and reinforce quality workmanship standards.
  • Work with HR, Safety, and Production teams to identify training needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with on-the-job training by coordinating trainer/trainee interaction and helping employees transition from the Academy to the production floor.
  • Monitor trainee progress, provide coaching and feedback, and document training completion and skill development.
  • Reinforce workplace safety requirements and proper use of PPE throughout training.
  • Assist with new-hire safety and manufacturing orientation as needed.
  • Continuously evaluate training methods and recommend improvements to electrical assembly training.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in electrical assembly, industrial electrical work, electrical manufacturing, panel building, control wiring, or a related electrical field.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical assembly practices and electrical safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with wire installation, routing, connections, and terminations preferred.
  • Experience training, teaching, coaching, or mentoring employees strongly preferred.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, hands-on manner to entry-level employees.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Comfortable working in both a classroom setting and an active manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous electrical training or instructional experience.
  • Experience working with industrial electrical equipment, control panels, switchgear, power distribution equipment, or similar electrical assemblies.
  • Experience training employees who are new to manufacturing or the electrical trade.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
