This role supports accurate and timely financial close, management and regulatory reporting, internal controls, and accounting analysis. The position owns or supports recurring monthly, quarterly, and annual work across fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, investments, leases, equity compensation, cash flow disclosures, and SEC reporting. The role coordinates with business leaders, external auditors, and accounting partners to obtain support, resolve variances, maintain documentation, and deliver review-ready workpapers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare quarterly binders, cash-flow workpapers, projections, management-control signoffs and memos, and supporting schedules for earnings releases, and Form 10-Q, 10-K and Proxy filings.
  • Support SEC and regulatory reporting through tie-outs, prior-year rollforwards, disclosure population, commitment and fair-value tables, securities footnotes and filing reviews.
  • Coordinate SOX testing, external-audit walkthroughs, confirmations, sample requests, signatures, and supporting documentation; track requests and serve as a liaison among auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Execute and support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal-entry preparation, account reconciliations, rollforwards, reasonableness reviews, and investigation of variances.
  • Perform fixed-asset and depreciation analysis across accounting books; review capitalization and depreciation profiles, identify newly capitalized and fully depreciated assets, and maintain alignment with tax guidance.
  • Prepare and analyze specialized accounting schedules and checks.
  • Analyze leases, securities activity, investments, loan and deposit trends, safekeeping balances, and other financial information to confirm completeness, accuracy, and appropriate presentation.
  • Support during mergers and acquisitions for due diligence, accounting and related SEC activities, as requested.
  • Communicate clearly with Chief Operations Officers, finance and accounting personnel, executive leadership, and external auditors; escalate issues and deliver organized, review-ready workpapers on schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA is preferred. Previous banking, SEC reporting and other relevant accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Progressive accounting experience with financial close, reconciliations, financial reporting, internal controls, or external-audit support; financial-services experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX controls, SEC reporting concepts, and financial-statement preparation and tie-out procedures.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with general-ledger, fixed-asset, reporting, or enterprise systems; Workday and Jack Henry experience are beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to prioritize work to execute tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment is required.
  • Ability to manage confidential information, competing deadlines, detailed workpapers, and cross-functional follow-up with sound judgment and accuracy.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Ownership, organization, and deadline management
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Cross-functional coordination and professional skepticism
  • Adaptability during system, process, and reporting changes

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Close, reporting, control, and filing deliverables are completed accurately and on time with clear supporting documentation.
  • Reconciling items, unexplained variances, control requests, and audit follow-ups are identified early and resolved or escalated promptly.
  • Workpapers are consistently review-ready, traceable to source data, and reusable in future reporting periods.
  • Stakeholders receive timely, concise communication on status, dependencies, exceptions, and required support.
  • Project outputs reconcile to records and are supported by documented testing.
